I kind of like the look of Louis better, BUT would prob pronounce Lou ee. Lewis is much more clear and it is also nice. xo
I dislike the Lewis way of spelling!
Louis looks much better!
I pronounce both the same way
I would pronounce them both Lu-wis even though the spelling of Louis is traditionally pronounced Lou-ee.
I know people with both spellings and both are pronounced Lu-wis.
I prefer the spelling of Lewis.
I would pronounce Louis as loo-ee, and Lewis as lewis! I prefer the sound of lewis and the spelling of Louis!
i might be wierd here but i would say lou-ees :-) i like lewis better, less confusion.
Just realised my friend has a Louis and it's pronounced Lewis. She seems to have no troubles. I would go for it! People will get used to it xo
 Much prefer the look of LOUIS
Lewis always reminds me of the very old comedian Jerry Lewis (i think he is still about ??)
Louis- as most seem to know is traditionally pronounced Looee (it's French... many French kings named Louis) but I really like the name Louis as in Loo ee... I know that in Aust many people also pornounce Louis like Lewis.
I agree that Louis looks better than Lewis.
If you like the look of Louis, but the sound of Lewis, how about Luis?
Double post
When I first saw Louis in your post I immediately thought it would sound like Louis.
I like the spelling of Lewis more... I think "Lewis" looks a little more "modern" if you will rather than Louis.
FWIW... everyone will have an opinion on bubs name regardless!! So go with your faves ;)
I see Louis pronounced as Lou-ee.
How about Luiz?
Me too... dilemma! I would also pronounce Louis - Loo-ee, but Lewis as Lewis...
Maybe you could spell it Luis?
The meaning is Famous Warrior
The origin is Spanish
Notes: a form of Louis

That way people will pronounce it as it's written, because it looks a little different to the "original" ways of spelling it?
I would pronounce Luis as lew-eece not Lewis.
I prefer the Louis spelling as well, people will get used to the pronunciation, lots of people pronounce names differently than whats traditional.
I agree. I would pronounce Luis more like Louise than Lewis, if that makes sense...
You can always just tell people how to pronounce his name. My name is candice, but it is pronounced can-dis, not can-dice, or can-dace, or can-darce. My mother simply corrected people when they pronounced it wrong and it didn't take long for people to catch on.
hmmmm....thanks so much for all of your thoughts.
I think I'm definitely tending towards Louis. I'm a bit of a sucker for traditional spellings so would probably steer clear of Luis and can see what you mean about people will get used to it and there'll always be someone that probably mispronounces things anway. (not that it particularly bothers me, just wanted to try and keep it simple for people!)
thanks again...you ladies are great!!!
I like it spelt lewis.
i'm not a fan of guys named lou/louis
my little man is Lewis and i've never had to spell it out for anyone.
in other words, i think it's the first way that people go to spell the name.
i think Louis should be pronounced Louie- that is the traditional way that name should be pronounced.
Louis- lou-ee or lou-is (I've known people with this name who pronounce it both ways)
Lewis- Lou-is
Luis- Lou-EES
I like both Louis and Lewis about equally. I'd use Lewis if you don't want any pronounciation issues, but I think people will get used to Louis however you want to pronounce it.
Luis is a tradtional spelling if you're Spanish or Hispanic. It only isn't traditional if you pronounce it like Lewis/Louis.
lewis
Louis = loo ee
My gorgeous little man is Lewis. I prefer the spelling Louis but didn't want him always having to correct people when they called him Lou-ee. Sometimes people ask me how its spelt but most people seem to know.
Great choice!
I like Louis. (And would pronounce it Lewis).
The spelling 'Lewis' reminds me of Kate Langbrook who called her son 'Lewis Lewis'. As in first name and second name are both Lewis!! Too much for me!
I also Like Louis and would pronounce it Lu-wee
I have a Lewis, and as you can see went with that spelling.
People spell his name both ways, Lewis and Louis.
Funnily enough his nickname is Lewie/louie, courtesy of his big brother not being able to say Lewis.
I say go with what you like.
