Just a reminder to all: all LTers love seeing a fellow LTer achieve that longed-for BFP, and we all find hope in one of our own having success in this difficult journey. But please remember that there are those who cycled with you who may not have received good news at the end of their cycle. Please do not post baby/child/pg tickers or pg related signatures (eg blinking BFP icons) etc in this forum out of respect for them.
As it's easy to forget to remove your ticker, please be advised that we will remove it for you if it's posted in here. Just easier, is all.

Sara - hiya  You know that "it only take's one" slogan - just remember Megsmum is our age, only one egg at EPU and is now more that 10 wks PG! It is very stressful. Will :crossfingers: for you over the next couple of days. Keep up the sweet potato soup and the accupuncture because you are still in with a great chance! xx
AFM - Day 3 FSH. The Gonal-F pen is so much simpler than the Puregon pen - feel like I must be missing one of the steps! AF already seems to have left the building so pretty happy about that.
Hoping this new thread rains lots of positivity and baby dust on us all!
-
Hi WTH, Thanks for your reply - you're right the Gonal Pen is much simples and also thought it does not hurt as much so pretty sure you're doing everything right - when do you have your first BT?
AFM Feeling a bit better after very depressed this morning, basically what it means is that only one is left so don't think my chances are very good.
It's also such a feeling of being completely out of control, if I only could I'd sit in the lab and check on them every 10 minutes or so or hold them with a hot water bottle close to my belly to keep them warm.
... sounds like I am going a bit crazy here oops....
-
Sara,
There is nothing you can do that will help your embies at this stage. They are being well looked after though! And one or 2 may make it yet...
So please look after you.
Also - one big thing that has happened this time is that your FS has worked out how to get workable eggs out of you. That's a huge step in the right direction, though it may not feel like much at the moment.
-
Thank you Kmn, you're absolutely right.
Trying to do everything to distract me - even going to the 20/20 cricket tonight and have decided to be naughty and have one beer since that may help with sleeping and therefore can be considered medicine ;)

Hi ladies
We have a sticky thread on immunology testing in the LTAC area that members have added too over the last few years but it has been dormant for a while. There is some interesting information in there that may be of use for you.
Also if you were able to take the time, it would be valuable for other members to have the information you may have gained from your own investigations included in this thread which wont disappear when these fast chat threads end.
I will also bump it to see if we can added valuable learnings for us all.
[B]HERE it is.
Thanks :)

Sara - Oh hang on little embies, please hang on! I really feel for you sara. This time is sooooo stressful. I found the "knowing" what all the embies were doing really tough. The TWW in an IUI cycle was much easier as there was nothing to know. Just prayeres that something was growing. But now your babies are out there and you can "watch" them but sadly, it IS out of your control what they do from here on. Hoping that one strong one is "normal" and does make it all the way, be kinf to yourself these next few days. I won't tell you not to stress cos I know you will... as would I!
WTH - days 3 already. YOu will be at EPU before you know it. BT tomorrow? Hope things are on track
CP - where are you at girl? Hope all ok
Kel - Are you starting FSH tonight? Thats when the exciting part really begins
AFM - ho hum, the days are dragging. Feels like AF is going to do the right thing and arrive tomorrow. Sure feels like it anway so hope she does what i ask for once!
-
Dusty - I am so so sorry. I only just noticed your sig.I did not know you had lost your precious bubba. After so much hard work and heartache, I am lost as to why this should happen to someone so deserving. This world is so darn cruel! I hope you and your DH can have some joy in 2009.
-
Sorry guys 1st day back to work and didn't even get a chance to check anything!
Sara, take care hun. This is the toughest part, now with all the physical stuff is left behind, there is absolute no distraction from the emotional stress. I am glad you are finding things to do, seeing you even going to cricket, I know you are trying hard hun! :D Relax and let nature take its course, you might be pleasantly surprised!
Meredith, I hope AF will knock on your door soon...they love to play games with us isn't it?
WTH, you little quiet achiever, already hitting Day3, isn't that funny when you see others always seem time flies fast but when it is for yourself, what a drag!
AFM, I will be cheering on the sideline for you guys, Sara first, then WTH and Meredith & Kel. I am on my CD23, praying AF will arrive a few days late, so my TF will be sometime after 5th Feb.
-
Before I forget: lots of :bluedust: and :stickyvibesgirl: for the new thread.
Meredith: Hope AF is knocking on your door today.
WTH: Good luck with the jabbing
Cuddlepie: Hope everything is going to plan for you.
Kel: Good luck for cycle start.
Buliej: Hope you're doing well.
Kmn :hello:
Thank you so much for your support, it means so much! And I know that you girls know exactly what I feel.
Can you just reassure me that my physical signs at the moment are normal and actually a good thing although uncomfortable? I have a tiny bit of spotting, my ovaries feel really swollen and I am badly constipated (Sorry for TMI). This all happened after I took the massive does of Pregnyl on Sunday night, before that I was feeling better after EPU.
BTW; I didn't have the beer at the cricket yesterday but was still naughty as I had a hot dog and crisps:p
A great day to everyone, I have acupuncture tonight really looking forward to it.
Sara

Meredith: I started the FSH yesterday morning, second dose today. The needles don't bother me so much, but the Synarel has made me so thirsty and is starting to give me headaches. Mind you, if that's the worst to date, I'm not going to whinge about it!
Sara: Hang in there!
Hi everyone else! I only got back to work yesterday and it's chaos here!
-
Sara, the spotting after EPU is completely normal. I won't go into why in case you are blissfully ignorant of what actually happens during the procedure and would prefer to remain that way - I know I wished I could have when I found out (sadly before my first one!). As for the constipation - perfectly normal with pregnyl in your system, and completely normal during pregnancy as well. Your ovaries are likely feeling a little swollen because of what they do during EPU - they won't just be attacking the follicles that are likely to have eggs, I believe they go for all of them, even if they are under-sized, so they have been through quite a bit! And you can probably begin to understand a little of why I spent a week in hospital after having 32 eggs collected! Don't be jealous of the egg numbers - they were all crap! Hang in there... Hoping your embryos go well in the next few days and you get to ET this cycle.
BW
-
Just a quick one, Sara, just want to reassure you that Pregnyl can do funny things to your body, so don't worry. I had a few days cramps after pregnyl shot which I never had it in my last two cycles where no pregnyl was used. I even called emergency nurse and she assured me that they are normal. She also said some people can get spotting after that. About the feel of swollen Ovaries, did your FS tell you the level of estrogen? It should start to go down now after EPU. Drink lots of water to keep OHSS at bay....take care hun!
-
BW - Nice to hear from you, wanted to congratulate to the arrival of you little bub. And yes, I found out about it, thankfully a day later, during the procedure I was asleep and blissfully ignorant.
CP: Thanks for your response, have now talked to the nurse again and it sounds like it's normal, also asked about my FSH and she said it was just over 7000 on Jan 7 (I only had one more puregon shot after that)
Sara
-
Thanks, Sara. If you know what happens during EPU, it should all make sense - I often had a bit of spotting for a few days afterwards. I was a little freaked after the first one when the hospital gave me a maternity pad, but it was nothing a liner couldn't cope with! Your E2 levels seem quite good, I don't think you're at risk of developing OHSS, but resting and keeping fluids up certainly won't hurt. You'll more than likely feel heaps better by the time you get to ET.

Hi ladies,
I have been lurking in the background over the past few weeks, trying to focus on other things then our up coming test results and what we might be told.
Am so annoyed with a lady at work who is 7 weeks pregnant, she is still smoking. It is taking all my strength not to slap her and tell her that what she has is a gift and previlidge, not a right. How stupid can some people be?
Sara - you have all my prayers for your embies
Kel - Hi and welcome. I tried IVF with PGD as I had a 30 week termination as my son had x-linked hydrocephalus. Currently waiting for DNA results to come back from France to confirm if it was genetic or just a really bad accident.
Hope everyone is well.
-
Lisa - welcome back. Hope you had a good Chrissy break. That woman at your work is an undeserving cow. Makes me soooooooooooooooo mad! When do you get your test results back?
Sara - I was humongously constipated after EPU - to the point I could not walk! Yet I did not even spot. Everybody reacts differently, I s'pose. Wishing you all the best  for your Day 5 result tomorrow and potential transfer :goodluck:
BW - congratulations  Can't believe you are finding time ATM to get on line. Hope you are getting some sleep :D
Cuddlepie - :hello: Hope AF fits in nicely with your busy February schedule. A tip? Are you taking B6 - it can help lengthen your luteal phase.
Kel - hey cycle jabbing buddie. We are just two days apart. Hope the headaches ease up on you.
Meredith - is AF here??????????????????? Hope it arrives spot on time so you can get jabbing with Kel and I ;)
Dusty - I did not realise, either. So truly sorry :comfort:. I know you must be crushed. Thanks for taking time out for us in these very difficult days.
AFM - Day 4 FSH tonight. BT = 288. On par with last cycle which was 303 on the same morning. I have read that Gonal-F is not as strong as Puregon, so maybe that makes up for the tiny difference. Next BT Thursday and maybe US on Friday
-
Welcome back Lisa, hanging out for the result and I hope its just a bad accident and you have a clear road ahead of you...
WTH, you are such a fountain of knowledge, I love it...I am acutally taking B group vitamins but not particularly B6, I am tempted to try! Thanks hunny! Glad to hear that Bt result shows everything is on track....
-
Cuddlepie - OK, I sounded confident 10 mins ago, but now the panic is already sinking in. Clinic said estrogen was "a little low" and last time I had an ultrasound scheduled for Thursday (at this exact point - the days are the same IYKWIM) and this time they are just giving me a BT. But I know they do not do US on the weekend. Do you think that sounded like a low number?? Here comes that damned rollercoaster AGAIN!
-
Sounds like you haven't had your D4 injection yet right? So theoratically you've only been on FSH for 3 days. I am in the office so can't check my notes but I do remember there was a number around 280 mark, so it must be either D3 or D4 for my last cycle. I don't think its a bad number though. I will check my record tonight and let you know.
Isn't that funny 'no matter how many times we've been on the rollercoaster, it always feels as fresh as the very first time.'
-
Thanks for writing straight back :D You and I both got our "lucky 7". So I guess things are similar. Just wish I wasn't changed to Gonal-F. It was the FS'es idea, but he did say there was a risk it may work better or worse. But I guess 7 is great, as I really need to work on egg quality, so maybe Gonal-F will do the trick there. I was feeling so ****y and confident this morning...aRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHHH :wall:
-
OK - so I've read caffeine raises estrogen levels (and I have been off it). Should I have a cuppa tea? I know it is not good for ttc, but don't know at what point it is bad for the cycle, eg, implantation, etc.
-
WTH - You're right she is undeserving of the wonder gift that all of us would just about kill for. Results should be in within a couple of weeks, we did however find out that the blood that our FS drew from DH was karotyped (we weren't told, not that it mattered) but his results were fine. So now waiting for my karotyping and Brendans & my hydrocephalus. Hopefully we will be seen by the geneticist pretty quickly and not drag it out forever.
-
WTH, hunny, we still gotta live...iykwim...go have your cuppa...white tea ever I've learned from here, its always on my desk! As far as you don't over coffee-ed up, I don't think it will hugely affect the end result!
-
WTH, just checked my last cycle's record, D3 on FSH, E2 is 284. By D6, it is 1500. So I hope this will help to ease your mind a bit. Going for an evening walk now...see u chickie
-
WTH - I don't think E2 sounds low at all for day3. Can't remember exactly what mine was around that time but I think I recall about 300 and I had HEAPS of follies. They may not have ordered u/s for you yet as they are basing things a bit on your last cycle. When they kind of know how you respond to the drugs they know its safe to hold out a few more days before u/s IYKWIM. An u/s this early is really only to check when you should start the orgalutron. What day did you start last cycle?
Lisa - praying you get results very soon and that they are ok. You are very patient to wait SOOOOO long to even get answers. Let alone try again
Sara - how are you doing darl? Hope you have at least one good embie to biopsy tomorrow and praying for an ET
Kel and CP- Hope things going ok for you two too.
AFM - darn AF hasn't really shown yet!!! I have horrendous period pain and all the other usual symptoms but barely a touch of spotting. I am wondering ifd this is all I'm going to get? I don't usually bleed much after provera but its normally at least better than this. just praying everything is ok in there. Going into clinic to pick up meds tomorrow so guess I might need BT or something. Stress has already kicked in and I haven't even officially started!
-
Hi girls,
Just got a call from the clinic and the rollercoaster continues, we have one early blasto graded okay, one early blasto which is a bit fragmented and graded poor and another one which is still just numbers of cells and also graded poor. We'll find out this afternoon if any of them has grown enough for biopsy tomorrow so please keep fingers crossed for me.
What I am trying to see as a real positive out of this is: while two are graded poor and probably nothing is going to come our of them and one is only graded okay and none good at least we've basically still three out of three in the running - the third one hadn't done anything until Monday, so at the moment feeling okay but will probably run up the walls in the afternoon
WTH: As far as I know they expect an E of between 100 and 500 for the first BT so hopefully everything is going okay - it's amazing how much the nurses can worry you sometimes, hope things are looking up for your first BT, if you're worried I'd ring them back and ask if you couldn't do an ultrasound as well when you go in next time, always remember you're paying lots of money for this so there is no reason not to ask.
LIsa: Welcome back - keeping fingers crossed for your results, do you know an approximate timeframe on when to expect them?
Cuddlepie: Hope you're going okay and had a nice walk, keeping fingers crossed that AF arrives late this time. Do you remember the grading of your three last time? Just wondering if there is still any hope for the one that's graded poor.
Meredith & Kel: Good luck with jabbing, do you already know when you have your first BT?
:hello: Buliej
Going to have a nap now - basically had no sleep last night so worried have I been.
Sara

Sara, congratulations on the result. Given not a big number to start with, I think your result is quite amazing! For the very first cycle anyway. So big YAY! It sounds like that you will most likely to have at least 1 go to biopsy, and seriously hope the other blastie will catch up.
My last cycle, on D5 TR day, we had 1 blastcyst (grade 2) and two early blastcysts. Two were TRed and the one of the less developed early blastie then went on developed into a grade 2 blastcyst when frozen. So like scientist told me that they can definitely go both ways, so don't lose hope, the poor quality one might catch up in the next day or so and to be a stunner. When will they decide to do the biopsy?
I think you've come a long way from last cancelled cycle to now having two blasties regardless what grade it is. There are huge chances that fertilized embies just get fragmented even on Day3, the fact that all of your 3 made to D5 is an achievement itself. I am sure your FS will know more about your cycle and the next one (if you ever need another) will be even better. Sometimes, I can't help thinking this could be a 'working in process', some failed cycle is just laying down the ground for the upcoming big BFP!
Hang in there sweetie! Are you working ATM? Trying to find sth. to distract you if you can, how about Druymmoney pool? If I am not working today, you definitely will see me there...hehe
-
Sara - woooooohoooooo  You have blasts! You have blasts! That's fantastic . Your embies are great little battlers :D Wishing you a world of luck for a great result this afternoon
Cuddlepie - thanks for (kindly) sorting me out yesterday. I was off on a super tangent - already had my cycle cancelled in my head. And the cuppa full strength tea was wonderful
Meredith - come on AF. Where are you when we need you!?
Lisa - it is lovely to have you back on board. Can't wait to hear your results so you have some answers and can know what path to take.
AFM - As usual, my 3-days-after-AF spotting has arrived on cue. Seems to happen no matter what day of the month my cycle finishes! A mystery. Emailed FS to request US on Friday. Don't think I could make it until Monday (Day 10) without a peak at what's going on.
-
Thanks WTH & Cuddlpie for your support, helps to keep me sane.
WTH: good on you for requesting the ultrasound - hope you get great results this cycle.
Cuddlepie: they'll let me know this afternoon around 4pm how things look.
Meredith: Sorry wasn't up-to-date in last message, hope AF arrives soon for you.
Sara
-
Sara - you are doing so well. I am sure it feels like the clock is running backwards ATM! Glad we are helping with your sanity - this whole IVF business has brought out the absolute nutter in me ;)
-
Lisa: Thank you for sharing with me. I hope that your results arrive soon and give you the answers you need.
Sara: I have everything crossed for your embies! Just hang in there a couple more days. My first u/s and next BT (had one on Monday gone) are on Monday coming (FSH CD8, true CD14).
WTH/Meredith/BW/CP/Julie: :hello:
AFM, AF is still here (CD9 today :o ) and I have had ENOUGH! :) AF is normally only between five and seven days. Stimming is going well, feeling some gurgling at the minute on both sides, so that's a good sign (I've got a pretty good hit rate for guessing which side the follicle(s) are on so far , so we'll see how it pans out next Monday when I have my first u/s and next BT). I'll be glad to be off the Synarel, I've had so much water in the last week that I'm starting to think that I'm going to float away!
-
Keep crossing fingers for me girls, one of my blasties made it, the biopsy is this morning, It's now 50 to 50.
Sara
-
Sara - brilliant! You've made it to biopsy. When do you get the result?
-
2pm, going a bit crazy here.
Sara
-
Couldn't log in earlier, great news that 1 made to the biopsy!!!
I am praying its a green light and get to transferred...
-
Sara - I have been going bonkers trying to see your reply above while BB has been down most of the day. I soooooooooooooooooooooo hope you made it to transfer!
Meredith - hope AF has arrived for you!
Kel - glad to hear things are moving along for you. Good luck with your scan and next BT.
:hello: Howdy Cuddlepie, Lisa and Buliej
AFM - much better BT result today. Almost 1000, up from less than 300 two days back. There's gotta be something going on down there! Find out tomorrow at 8.30 scan :D
-
I hope we haven't heard from Sara is because she is right now in the room to get that blastie transferred in her belly!:D
WTH, I have to say this "I told you so" ;) but so glad that everything is on track, I am sure there are LOTS going on there!
-
Hi Cuddlepie - it was my hope that you would say, "I told you so" ;)
-
Girls,
Thank you very much for your support, couldn't have done it without you - unfortuntately didn't work out this time, the embryo was affected with the bad gene.
Since I really got my hopes up this morning I crashed pretty badly. It just felt so unfair, it's 50/50 and worked out badly for me, my sister, my 1st pregnancy which I had to terminate and now my blastie.
Already feeling a bit better, went for a swim during the thunderstorm was pretty dramatic with really dark clouds, rain but sunshine - it felt kind of cleansing.
So trying to concentrate on the positive things: while my 1st cycle was cancelled, this one worked out alright. I had only three eggs but they seemed to be of good quality and althought DP had originally a bad SCSA result, Menevit, fruit juice and PICSI seems to have done the trick. So will be hoping for 3rd time lucky!
Hope you're all doing well, for now lots of
:bluedust: :pink-babydust: :bluedust:
And girls, while I am out this time I still want to see you going for the hattrick! :goodluck:
Sara
