how big do you mean?
I have 14 months between my first 2, then 3.5 years between the next 2 :)
My aunty had a 12 year old when she had a baby lol
my first two are 3 yrs apart then its an 8 yr gap to this one.
There is 4yrs 6months between my two boys.
depends what you consider big?
6yrs between mine.
My DD1 will be 2.5 when the new baby arrives. It will be very busy!!!
My sister is TTC #2 and her DD1 has just turned 5.
9 years between my two!! Did you have a particular question about the age gaps?
I have a 5 year old and thinking about having another one in the next year or so. For me I guess anything past 5 years difference is big. A big decision whether or not to go through with it.
It's always a big decision, no matter what the ages of your other children.
My cousin is 7 years younger than her sister, they adore each other and annoy each other just as much as all the other "sisters" I know! In the end, you need to follow your heart. Do you feel there is another little spirit waiting to come through and have you as their mumma?
I have an 8.5 year gap between my two sons and I like it that way. Having kids closer together wasn't really an option for me though. DS1 is fantastic with his little brother and is a big help. People often ask me if it was hard to adjust to having another baby in the house after all that time but it wasn't hard at all. Always thought that was a bit of a strange question anyway! Good luck with making your decision.
8 years 7months and 2 days between my two :)
Only small (very small) gaps between all mine.
But theres 10.5 years between me and my sister
Hi, 12 years and 3 late MC's between DD and DS definately was nervous but ready....;) good luck, but I reckon take a leap of faith!!!
oh I say go for it!! I think it's a nice gap!
A close friend of mine is TTC number 2, her DD is 5. They aren't having much luck though, so it could be around a 6 year age gap :)
GL
13 years and 8 months between number 1 and 2... will only be 25 months between 2 and 3...lol.
They get on great but that could change soon as my toddler is starting to reach that "everything is mine" stage!! We just have to remind DS1 that he is only a baby and sometimes they do things differently to communicate. I was a little worried as DS1 has some behaivoural issues and it was a concern that having a new baby around might make things worse but I can honestly say it has actually improved! I think he likes the responisibility of being the "big" brother and having someone look up to him. They play really well and DS2 loves to copy things thas DS1 does. I do wonder though how things will be when DS1 becomes a teenager but then when they are older, as in grown men, I don't think the age difference will matter at all, especially with them both being males.
As far a the impact financially I don't think it has made too much of a difference. Of course we have the added costs of a baby but I like that I don't have two lots of everything to buy if I was to say have two children in nappies. DS1 does three outside of school activities as well and I don't think I would be able to afford that for two.
Hope that made sense and helps!
Mine are only going to be about 21 months apart.
Nervous mum i know what you mean about the circumstances being just right. My two boys are 6.5yrs apart and DS1 is a good help....some of the time! I guess at least i'm not running around after a 2yr old. We are thinking about another one and i have told DP that if that is the case i won't be working at all, unfortunately i will be going back to work later in the year so we will see what happens.
I have a friend who is 7 years older than her Bro and 21 years older than her Sis.
hey just wanted to know, as am planning for baby number 2 am really scared, ma baby is now four years old, but some people told me that having a big age diffrence in between siblings is really hurtful and painful during pregnancy as urs was 6 years difference did you experience anything like that...if its personal then i understand you dont have to reply back..
thank you for your time and in help..
No, it was not really hurtful or painful. I suffered more morning sickness and for longer but I think that could happen with any pregnancy.
Are people refering to you being older for your next pregnancy and perhaps not as fit and healthy as you might have been first time round??
Aparently Dr`s say that after 5 years your body reverts back to having never been pregnant before, so if you have 5+years between pregnancys then its almost as if its a first pregnancy for the body to deal with.
Families are all different - that's the beautiful thing about them. Whatever the age difference, siblings are always going to have a special bond.
My sister is ten years older than me and my brother is six years younger. When we were growing up the age difference between my sister and I meant that we didn't really play together, but my younger brother and I did. But now that we are adults none of that matters, we're brothers and sisters and that's what counts. The bond I have with both of them is very special and I don't think it would be any different if we were closer in age.
MY DDs are 8 years apart, I had a great pg with DD2 it didn't feel like a first pg at all. DD1 was so excted to get a baby sister and was brilliant with her (They aren't as nice to each other now LOL)
DD1 was 14, DD2 was 6 when I had DS and they were both great, I culd have a shower and one of them would watch him and now I have a babysitter so DH and I get to go out by ourselves.
I have loved my age gaps, I have thoroughly enjoyed each baby and had time to spend with them as I wan't running around after a toddler.
Financially its not too bad cause I am not paying for 3 kids to do swimming lessons or ballet or whatever cause DS is too little and DD1 too old!!
Hiya,
By the time this bubba is born my son will be 11 and my daughter will be 8. The age gap did distress me when I found out this surprise bub was on the way and I'm not sure how things will work out but I do know that my kids are over the moon about it so thats a big positive so far.
Cheers
There is 12 years between my dd and ds but different circumstance as they have different fathers but i think it doesnt really matter, your children adjust and my dd just adores her little brother, yes the pregnancy was a little more difficult for me being 12 years older and not as fit but all the same it was fine.
There is 6 years between my dsd1 and dsd2. 10 years between dsd1 and ds & 5 years between dsd2 and ds. This bub & dsd1 gap 12year, bub & dsd2 6 gap, and ds will be 18months.
I think every gap has its pros & cons.
I would agree - i have 5 years between DS#2 and DS#3. It was like going back to the start. I did realise though that my body was 5 years older and things were definitely different BUT i wouldnt let that put you off ! I am now having a 4th ( and last )
It has been worth it 100%.
The way DS#1 (especially) and DS#2 interact with DS#3 is amazing ! They are such great big brothers and it is so special to see them together. Wouldnt change a thing !
