Feeb, I brought one of them last year when target had them on sale and I honestly cannot fault it. I have used it a lot this past year (you should check out the Christmas sewing thread - links to all the sewing I did for Christmas are on there) and it's never skipped a beat. I think you should definitely get it, it is a great machine for a beginner sewer or someone who doesn't need a lot of fancy stitching.

I got a Janome one for Christmas from DH... its my first machine, it was $199 down from $299... got it from Metro sewing something... In southland (not sure where in melb you are, but there are a few of them around) Heard good things about the machine, good as a beginers one apparently.
I just need some bits to start practicing with!

Metro sewing centres. There is one at werribee, but you can also buy online there.

Great thread. I wouldn't mind a basic sewing machine myself to do some projects.

I was sneaky today and went down to Target and lay-by'd the last Brother on sale. I lay-by'd it as DP will be cranky if I get another 'toy' so soon after getting the Kitchen Aid.

I'm hoping to make a basic quilt or throw.

yeh i was going to say spptlight had a sale for $79 but seriously, probably had only 1 in each store anyway!

I have an extremely old Elna overlocker that is so ancient but still works so well (i should post a pic of it lol). The sewing machine i use is an aldi one mezzo or somehitn brand.

Its been a few yrs and still havent broken down.

If i wanted to sew lots of stuff i just go to mums who has an industrial Juki brand with auto thread cutting thing

Although im not very good at sewing at alll! LOL

Good luck with making some gorgeous clothes!

Just checking emails. BigW have the Singer Sewing Machine 2250 for $168.00 (small saving of $30).

ETA, just checked Lincraft pre Christmas email and they have the same Singer for $169 with a BONUS $10 fabric voucher (saving of $160).

    Go figure
