My new addiction... making cloth wipes! :)

These are not to sell, just me playing around and boy isn't it fun!

I am currently using flanelette one side and microfibre toweling the otherside, I plan to use them for DD's bum and also some for cleaning her face after dinner/lunch as they are a lot softer than facewashers....

I am hoping to buy some minky and make blackets with minky one side and flannel the other with some taggies.

We have quite a few friends all due to have bubs shortly so hoping they are "OK" to use as gifts

    What else can I make....

Is it microfibre or microfleece you are using babe? Cos I dunno if I'd wanna be wiping their precious female parts with microfibre.....

oh really... I am not certain it is a toweling, very very soft, maybe I have used the wrong thing

I have just googled it and found a website, that has info about it, saying that it can dry out babies skin if used in nappies directly against the skin, I might have to go back to Spotty's and see what it is that I have and might have to find something else

Bibs might have to be to go for it.. if it is the wrong thing

Does it feel like it sorta sticks to your fingers a bit? Like, doesn't feel really nice? Like, whats the stuffing on bumg's or other pockets? (do you have pockets?) Some microfibre does feel soft, but its awfully drying on your hands after a few seconds of touching it - I can't stand touching it, usually make DH stuff all the pockets..

    Microfleece is really soft though

ETA - I just realised how many times I used the word "like". Sorry for people reading this that hate people that say "like" a lot.. LOL

I don't have any of those pockets, I have Pea Pods and they have bamboo, but from your description I think that it is the microfibre , I have made 8 too, I guess I will have to work out what to use them for now, or just use the flanelette side
    Poo!!!!!

Thankyou for that Mel, better that I know now than later!

Kate looks like I will use the microfibre to back some funky new bibs!!

Oh poo bum - sorry Vic Can you put another layer of material over the top of it instead of letting them go to waste or not using them?

I think I will buy the microfleece, cover the microfibre and then overlock again, they will be super absorbant wipes

Maybe I make some change table mats (I uses flanelette on ours) over the foam mat thingy as it gets cool with a bare bum, so perhaps I will make a long strip that tucks under each end, with flanel on the top and the microfibre underneath and then it will be nice an absorbant

Minkee would be okay wouldn't it as well, on the skin that is?

So many ideas popping into my head!

I got some microfleece and minkee today got a few colours and lots of white to match soem of the flannel I had already bought, I think i will have to find the bamboo velour online, but I didn't look that hard for it when I was in spotty's and lincraft today. It is all int he wash now, then will go in the dryer (on low) to preshrink it, so hopefully tonight I can start sewing it all up again. I really wish I had my sewing machine here as I really want to make these blankets too now!!!

you wont find bamboo velour in spotlight hon itsnot worthy enough of them

you could also use a layer of single sided terry from spotlight to go over the top
