    Overlocker advice...help!?

Does anyone know much about overlockers? I need some advice. I bought a new Overlocker (Elna) and it is breaking needles. 3 in a row. It has been sewing fine until this point. I am trying to make a frill, so using the gathering function. I'm just wondering if there is a problem with my machine or maybe my fault?
I have my needle tension set at 9, and my looper thread tensions set at 2 to get the right amount of gather. I am wondering if maybe this is creating an imbalance and then breaking the needles?
Any advice would be appreciated! If you think what I'm doing sounds okay, I will ask the store for a replacement because it's still under warranty.

Sorry, can't help with the possible imbalance. Have you got an instruction manual that might give you the correct settings for gathering? Maybe contact Elna's helpline or check out their website for the correct settings.

Another thing is are all the needles from the same packet? Is it possible that you have got a faulty batch of needles? This happened to me once, very frustrating but when I got a different packet of needles, they stopped breaking. I assumed that there was a fault in the metal.

Hmm, that's a good idea about the needles. I will try that if I have to go into the store.
The machine has a guide for gathering, but it doesn't gather enough so I have adjusted the tensions to make it more gathered. I feel like it should be okay, but just thought I'd see as a last resort if that could be the problem.
This is the 3rd Overlocker I have had. I've already had 2 others replaced for being faulty! All different problems, mind you, so not like I'm doing something wrong to all of them!
I will have a look on their website for troubleshooting.
I just want it to work!!!!

Yeah, went into the store yesterday and we tried the gathering. Didn't work so it its being sent away to be fixed under warranty. They say 3rd time lucky, right?

Hmmm, I don't know if they have Bernina at Spotlight. I had a Toyota, that went stupid, so they replaced it, the same model. Then that was faulty, so I got a refund and spent more money to get the Elna. Now it's dodgy too! So this is why I say, third time lucky. I'm taking the positive approach.
