Where/how do your store your fabric?

I'm having a tidy up today and I have loads of fabric now and I have no idea how to store it. I have a small sewing box for my threads etc, but I can't fit my fabric in there. I'd like to store it in something that I can have with me when I sew otherwise I would put it in a draw. So I was wondering how do you all store your fabric?

In plastic tubs in my linen cupboard.
I really need more tubs & to get them out of there into the top of my wardrobe though, coz there's no room left for my linen!

Like clover, I have a gigantic plastic tub that has all my fabric and patterns etc in it. How much do you have? Could you get one of those cloth shopping baskets (not like the green bags...I've seen quite large baskets, they have a metal frame but are covered in fabric)?

I have some in plastic tubs, and also some on shelves in my cupboard. I am fortunate to have my own sewing room though!

Plastic tub(s ) with lids for me too. Hard for little fingers to get into and dust proof - and that's important out there
I did have a plastic drawer system....but my DD has a fabric penchant too so that was out.

I store mine in camphor/cedar wood chests. We inherited them from MIL when she passed away. I'm not a fan of plastic because it doesn't breathe when it's closed... this doesn't matter too much if you are always digging around in them and airing them but over a long period it can harbour mildew spores etc. The chests are in the lounge room and quite decorative. They are lockable but they aren't locked ATM. I'm happy with the system and might even see if i can buy another chest for my wool.

............agree, reason why when i add a new tub, i grab some old scrap pieces of material, put a couple of lavendar drops on each, and place 4-5 in each tub....apparently keeps the mildew away....and prevents materials from smelling musty.....
