Can anyone share with me a pattern for a really easy to make 'beginner' style skirt for a little toddler to wear? I want to make one for DD and have found some on the internet but was wondering if anyone on BB had found any that were quite easy to make? like a 3 tiered skirt or A line skirt....
I found this "i made some simple a line skirts by just cutting 2 rectangles then sewing them right sides together and putting elstic in the waist and hemming them easy as " someone posted online on a website.... is it as easy as that??
Two rectangles sewn together then gathered with elastic is pretty easy to do. Also easy is just cutting one big circle, then cutting a smaller circle in the centre of that circle (for the waist) You make an elastic casing, then put your elastic in, hemit, and you're done.
If doing it this way makes no sense to you, it might be worth buying patterns for a couple of things, and then getting your sewing brain into gear. You'll realise how easy this is.
I also suggest using a basic cotton for your first go. Don't get excited and go using tulle or organza or anything!
I have been looking for simple patterns online for things and found some but I've decided it's probably just going to be easier if I actually go to spotlight and buy a pattern with all the instructions right there to see. They have simple ones there, I had a quick browse when I was there the other day.
My MIL recently bought me some real easy-to-do patterns for skirts and dresses for kids. I'm yet to start, but I have had a look at it and they look really easy.
Good luck.
Yeah I've looked in Spotlight recently for some but couldn't find any 'easy' one's.... well, they all looked a bit too hard for me!!! LOL!!! haha although I'm sure I'm capable of working it out.... :P
I found a free pattern while googling before so I might focus on that one!
Well.... I made the skirt for DD and it turned out great!!! I'm so proud of myself!! It was soooo easy. Made out of a bandana with another fabric also to make it a bit retro kinda.... looks awesome!
I also recently made some cute pants with lace for DD and a matching top!!
I'm getting very hooked on sewing lately.... it was about time seeing as I had all the stuff there ready to go for the last 2 yrs
