    quilt binding question?

    hi all,

so this might be a silly question, but how important is the binding on a blanket?

I have just finished the main part of my quilt and am up to the binding. At the moment I am finding the design of the binding to be very uninspiring and well it doesnt finish the quilt off as well as I would have liked.
So how important is it? Is there an alternative to the binding as well?

    TIA

    Justine

You can make your own binding, it sounds way more difficult than it really is... You can google for vids. But this way you can use some fabrics you used in the quilt, or make the binding wider and more incorporated with the quilt that your regular bias binding.

Binding is important - without it there is no frame for the quilt, also it obviously hides the unfinished edges.

Generally I use Bias Binding in a suitable colour. It is narrow enough that it is unobtrusive, premade and pre folded.
