    Sewing Machine Service and Repairs?

My sewing machine is about to be thrown against a brick wall

It misses stitches, it breaks thread (no matter what tension!), the presser foot doesnt go all the way down and it snapped a needle.

If I get it serviced will they tell me what is wrong? Will they tell me an approximate cost to fix it?

And how much are you generally looking at to get it serviced and/or repaired?

Im over the stupid thing, and I used to love sewing.

Definitely send it for a service, they should have a fixed price for a regular service and then get them to ring you and quote if there are going to be any more repairs than that.

I had mine serviced by a guy working from his shed and it cost me $50. It was well worth it and i would pay more if i was gonna get the same results! It probably will cost more if you go to a business.

I think you can expect to pay between $90 & $110 for a full service. Then extra I guess if they need to replace/repair

eta - try giving it a good clean yourself. Pull it all apart & clean the fluff, threads etc. oil it. I usually take off the plates, take out teh bobin casing compartment bit & get atit all with a paint brush & the vacuum. Durt is all out & vacuum it up as you go. Then I take the casing around the light off so I have access to the needle shaft bit & clean & oil that.. See how you go.
