can anyone recommend sewing machine classes in perth
hi
I'n keen to learn to sew. Just got an old sewing machine in the shed though... Just wondered if anyone could recommend any classes in perth? Pref in the evening as I've got young twins and no childcare at the mo.
Particularly interested in a teacher that was bit arty and not totally mainstream if poss... but anyone would be great , as long as they dont mind teaching a brain dead mother.
I see most places want you to buy a new or reconditioned machine from their store and then get classes.. am i kidding myself for wanting to use an old machine?
I took classes at my local Spotlight. They expect you to take your own machine but don't care where you got it from. THe teacher you get depends on the luck of the draw. My teacher was a lovely older woman who did mainly quilting but also could sew clothes.
I also did a course at the local Spotlight and it was great. I used their machines whilst i was there, and mine when i got home. Someone was having trouble with their home machine so they brought it in and the Spotlight people helped her to work out all the settings and got it working again.
They had classes at all different times. Some stores have their classes advertised on the Spotlight website.

where abouts are you parisasparagus? i live near freo and im starting classes next week at ****burn sewing centre (discovery drive in bibra lake) which are $10 a class, the lady seemed a bit old fashioned but maybe she was just taken aback by me
from memory they do classes thurs nights, fri day, fri nite and sat day....
have to take own machine, patterns and fabric and they show you to make whatever youve brought along, think thats why its so cheap but id rather do that cause dont wanna learn stuff i wont use...
also janome in fremantle does them, i didnt enquire about $$ or times though. HTH
