    Where does your machine live?

In what room do you keep your machine? Is it always out, or just on sewing days?

Mine is currently permanently set up, with overlocker, in our only spare room, which will be the nursery when bundle number 1 arrives. My current options are to have it permanently set up in the garage (floor is yuck so no good for cutting) or to pack it away and use dining table. I find I get a lot less done if this is the case though.

    So... what are your arrangements?

I have the best set up. My own sewing room, with an L shaped desk that has sewing machine and over locker on one 'arm' of the L and the other 'arm' of the desk for cutting. Large plastic tubs underneath for all my materials. My machines have covers over them at the moment because i have been studying (and had to ban myself from sewing), but in 2 weeks time i get to play again.

I know this doesn't help you, but i love my room and most people wouldn't get my excitement,

We are moving into a bigger place soon though, so I will have it somewhere else. It'll still be permanantly set up!

I get the excitement too! I have a whole room for sewing at the moment, and can leave stuff out for as long as I like.

Mine is in the study. It is one of the hottest rooms in the house, but my 26 year old sewing machine is temperamental at the best of times so leaving it set up means it is less likely to chuck a hissy fit. I am hoping to be able to replace it fairly soon though. and if I am really lucky I might even be able to get a cheap overlocker.

I have a sewing room now YAY! It used to be the study (and it is actually a meals area but our table is too big for the space) but we have moved the PC and desk into the lounge.

I bought a horn sewing cabinet off ebay and it's damn wonderful I used to have to lug it out of my wardrobe and take over the dining table all the time.

I have mine set-up in the spare bedroom. Currently using the dressing table that came with our bedroom setting as the sewing table. Right size for holding both the sewing machine and overlocker. I have a double tool box on wheels that I keep most of my sewing stuff in (threads, buttons, pins, needles etc). Material stash is currently in boxes in shed along with my dress manequin. Just need time to use the set-up at the moment.

In the cupboard in the spare room unfortunately! then on the dining room table or the bench (when using both overlocker and sewing machine)... a sewing room would be DIVINE!!

My sewing machine is pretty old, has never had a proper service and i thought it was on its way out. I found a guy who services machine, and got it serviced for $50 and it is back on track. If a new machine is not in your close future, a service might give it a new lease of life!

My sewing machine is still out in my main living area ATM because when my mother was staying she used it a lot repairing things for us that I hadn't gotten around to. When I straighten up our front room (which because this is an older home used to be the formal lounge so quite large) which is currently our office... it will go there on it's own table permanently set up. Said table is currently piled high with boxes of papers that need sorting
