Funny how some of you are skipping the sex scenes, I skipped the glider sceneNo need to read it, too Thomas Crown Affair.
I find some of the sex concepts interesting, which I wont go into as this is not AO![]()
While i am not particularly turned on by the sex scenes like Feijoa Mum there are certain elements that shall we say 'spike my interest' not that any of it is stuff i would do but there is an intrigue to it.
I find myself skipping quite a few of the sex scenes now and just following the main 'storyline' as likie most people they are quite repetetive and lets be honest not many people i know fit all that in then go about doing it again & again say 5 times a day
I read the first & second books in an afternoon each, i loaded the 3rd book onto the Kobo last night but am getting on my my real life and trying to leave reading it to dribs & drabs when i don't have other things to do... BORING right.... i'd give anything to just sit down, finish the last book in 1 day and know how it all turned out.
That said despite the crappy writing i DID download the first book so i had the complete set on the Kobo even though i read the borrowed copy from SIL, i had to have the set and will be saving it to the hard drive aswell as my Kobo library for future referece when i'm bored and want something 'easy' to re-read.

i def think some things should be left to the imagination. for eg...do we really need to know she has her period, and that he pulls the little blue string.... ewww. i was like what the??? really??
and sometimes i actually feel sorry for Ana, and think "just say you're tired!!!". surely that kind of animal urge cannot happen in real life all day, everyday!?
anyway,just started the second book...lol
I'm with you Astrid. Again, won't go into the sexy stuff, but the kink isn't something I'm adverse to![]()

lmao mummajj. I was thinking the same thing with the period/tampon thing, and when he put it in the toilet I was thinking "you're not supposed to flush them"
There is a scene at the the end of the third book that makes me cringe a little. Won't go into it as some of you haven't read the book yet and it will give the story away, but it involves a whip over a stomach with a third person involved.
Really? I didnt think it was that bad tbh, bit of "whatever floats your boat" kind of thing itms. We certainly never eased up with our shenanigans at any stage lol.
Despite the writing, I really enjoyed the series. I didnt like Grey much in the first book, but he grew on me once Ana grew a pair and stood up for herself. The sex scenes didnt really bother me, it felt like I was just reading about people "making love", so poor DP didnt get any extra lucky because most of it was boring![]()
Wasn't so much the act that bothered me, but the way they talked about it afterwards that got to me.
This is only the second book in my entire life that I didn't finish and I read a lot. I couldn't stand it. Maybe it's my inner feminist (all the "I'll take all his c'rap because maybe, just maybe, I can fix him *rolls eyes*), maybe it was the shocking writing (crap, double crap, sextuple crap), maybe it was the scene at the end where he pretty much admitted that he got off on hurting her (I skipped to the last chapters to see if it got better....it didn't). I am not a prude but violence of any kind is just wrong and it surprised me how disturbed I was by that one scene. Anyway, I can kinda understand why it's popular but I won't be finishing it.
i actually find it interesting the popularity of it amongst females (mainly due to explicit nature) considering the controlling, domineering, aspects. i didnt think that many women would find it a turn on.
This is pretty good article about the BDSM in the book.

The thing is i don't think it's JUST men that partake in these acts, yes in this book it is about a man with these issues but there are dominant women out there too.
Personally i don't mind the explicit writing, but i also don't mind some of DP's naughty DVD's or books, se seem to forget that sexuality is not just a male thing, lots of women are also into these things.
Again it's not for me and i wouldn't be doing these things in my bedroom but i don't think it's as big a deal to read it as some people think.
That said i do understand why it's not for everyone.
LC that's another thing that annoyed me a little (the article just reminded me) was the simultaneous orgasms.always.without fail. Grrr.
I started the first book today and read 5 chapters. I'm not bothered by the writing
Yet! And will forgive any bad writing cause its the authors first book. I can see I'm not going to get much done for the rest of my school holidays while this book is in the house!
