Wow (or should I say, "whoa" or "jeez"?).

I am so glad I read this thread, and so was on notice of the craptasticness of the writing!

"Hmmm ... I want to introduce my characters, but my English teacher is always banging on about 'show, don't tell' so I need to *show* what they're like ... I know! I'll put an interview on the first couple of pages, and whack in something improbable but not impossible, and she can just ask the questions I want answered, even if the literary device used is completely base, and it doesn't really make sense ... ta daaa!"

But I'm pretty sure I'll read all three anyway ... hopefully the good outweighs the ****house, over the course of them ...

I'm almost finished second book but I'm Finding Christian less appealing the more soppy he gets! I like him bossy lol How many times is he going to say I need u,don't leave me. But I'm liking that the storyline is getting deeper.

I hated it at the start. I thought it was just awful, because of the controlling and violent bits, and reading the contract made me cringe, yuck. I only kept reading because I was hoping for a happy ending to make me feel better, lol. Then when I got to the end of the first book, well how could you stop then? I enjoyed it from then on. Now I'm sad it's over.

I just started the 3rd book in as little as 3 days since I started the 1st book! I am loving it now. Cant wait to see how it ends. Loved the twists and turns in the 2nd book.

Finished all the books. Loved how the dynamics changed over the course of the books and the love blossomed

So I started it and I hate it so far (I'm probably one third the way through). Not sure I want to finish it so I've moved onto something else!

Sangie, I felt the same way. I was actually really put off by the contract and his controlling side but thought I'd keep going and it's actually really good. I'm almost finished it and it's no where near as full on as I expected. Plus I'm left wondering why Grey is so messed up so I'm desperate to read more.

I've bought the trilogy on my Kindle so the next two books are waiting for me, lol.

Don't torture yourself anymore, nutter. Just give the copy to an op shop and be done. You'll make someone's day when they see it there. They'll be like 'woah'.

After the 3rd book i am actually left wanting a little more.. despite the bad writing the overall storyline at the end was good.

Taurean I ended up finishing the first book but to be honest I have no motivation to read the next two. I'm guessing Ana will continue with the 'biting her lower lip' and 'flushing' and 'dissolving into a million pieces' on every second page at which point I would have to throw the book at something lol!

I reckon I can guess the ending anyway, they get married and live happily ever after and maybe a baby or two? LOL I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong.

LOL. So true. And at the start I was thinking I hated him. By the end of them though I was more like, 'Mr Grey can say that to me any day' Oh shame.

I've finished them. I slogged my way through. And it's left a bitter taste in my mouth.

I've criticized it before for the writing, the flushing/blushing, the stupid inner goddess, the "holy"s and the sex scenes.

But now that I've "read" all three, excluding the sex scenes in the last two books (skimmed past them), I find myself really unhappy about it for another reason - I am terrified that some woman out there is going to read them and think that it is some sort of normal relationship.

We all agree how messed up he is. But she still thinks she can save him. She wants to save him. We all keep reading, hoping she will save him and they will live happily ever after.

And they do. I won't say what it is, as this isn't the spoiler thread, but they do. And it is so unrealistic.

I just kept reading it shaking my head and wanting to say "run, Ana, get out of there!" How he treats her is not normal. It is not ok. And it is not acceptable. And yet she does accept it. Again and again and again.

His reaction to her big bombshell in book 3 is heartbreaking. He calls her stupid and asks if it is about the money. I'm sorry but does he not understand the birds and bees? If my DH had spoken to me like that, I'd be furious. And she is, but at the same time she is worried about how SHE has made HIM feel. She is worried for him, upset for him, etc. Every time he treats her like doggy do, she chastises herself for the situation, when most of the time he is completely overreacting to something, like her not changing her name the MINUTE she walks back into work after the honeymoon or the fact that she chose to go OUT (gasp!) with her girlfriend for a drink. She gets guilty. She is embarrassed and shame faced. She is terrified of his reaction, which is always monumentally out of proportion and generally involves some sort of abuse - verbal or sexual. How did he react when we went out? He flew home from interstate to yell at her and the cripple her, sexually. Over-reaction much?? Hello... That is not ok.

I just feel like its set women's lib back about 100 years.

I'm reading it now. I'm on book 2. I'm not as wrapped up in it as I thought I'd be. I want to read it, but its not a 'can't put it down' story for me.
His controlling is ****ing me off too. I've lived that, so its driving me mad that she's dealing with t AND trying to please him. Makes me want to slap her & tell her to get out.
I'll continue reading. Just so I know it & can have my not too interested oppinion, but I know its not going to get better for me.
I really don't know what it is about it that has me not too interested though...
