I have decided that I need to impose a self inflicted time limit on my BB time. I can get lost in the forum for hours sometimes and although its interesting and extremely addictive, it can be very unproductive.
Scout is having the one sleep a day now which is a good couple of hours and instead of using all that time to peruse the new posts I want to read a good book. You know those books you dont want to put down and are constantly attached to your hand. The ones you hurry through the mundane stuff (cooking dinner, washing, vacumming) so you can get back into it.
I want one of those books. So come on ladies (and gentlemen) who are the authors that write them?? Give me some names.
Harlan Coben - murder mystery
Michael Connelly - murder mystery
Jean P Sasoon - true stories about living in Arabia (very moving to read)
John Grisham - Mostly involves lawyers and trials
Stephanie Meyer - The Twilight Saga (very easy to get caught up in!)
Kerry Greenwood. Love her Corinna Chapman series and Phryne Fisher series. They are crime-solving mysteries. Corinna is set in modern era in Melbourne whiel Phryne Fisher is set in the 1920s/1930s.
David Eddings for fantasy.
Janet Evanovitch if I want to wet myself laughing. She is sooooo funny. The number series (i.e. one for the money etc) is about a really bad/useless female bounty hunter in the US.
My favourite book is The Time Traveler's Wife written by Audrey Niffeneger.
it is the most compelling, inspiring, hearfelt and beautiful books ever!!!
the movies even coming out at the end of the year for it!! i could go on and on about it!
I love reading too but tend to go for more 'chick lit' types of books that I can read and get lost in but don't tax my tired mummy brain . So if you are interested in those types - I love Marian Keyes, Monica McInerney, Cathy Kelly, Maggie Alderson. I have really loved all their stuff. It's not too light in a fluffy romance novel type of way though!
My absolute fav book is called Three Wishes by a author called Liane Moriarty. I absolutely loved it - laughed, cried, the lot. It's about 3 sisters and dealing with family life - kids, relationships, their relationships with each other etc. I recently re-read it and relate to alot of stuff in it now I'm a mum.
Or how about Jodi Picoult? She is the author of My Sisters Keeper - which is out at the movies now. Apparently the movie is a lot different to the book. The book is brilliant and very thought provoking in a 'what would I do in that situation' way. I've read alot of her stuff and loved it - I really loved Salem Falls which about a Amish family. Very interesting. Most of her stuff revolves around an event and then a court case, and I find her stuff very hard to put down.
Thanks so much guys. I have written down some of those names to check out at the library.
I LOVE Martina Cole and have read all of her books. I do enjoy the whole escapism stuff more than the using too much of the grey matter. (Must preserve what I have)
Dont like the ones that you have to think too much about and that jump from place to place. It becomes too confusing and I quickly lose interest. Also like the books that dont take too long to get into.
when i went on my honeymoon in may, i had 5 mins to grab a book so i picked the 1st one i saw, it was called- the last concubine - i cant remember the authors name and i gave it to a fellow traveller once i finished.
im not usually one to stray away from a good suspense thriller but this was one that i couldn't put down and finished in 4 days. it had everything in it and i was pulled right in!
the girl i gave it to emailed me and said she finished it in 1 day! keen but nevertheless proved it was a goody!
have fun!
