I picked up my copy today as well :)
I'm halfway through another book but I'm a fast reader, so won't take me too long to get started... when I'm finished I'll let everyone know & I'm more than happy to send my copy to anyone who still might be waiting for library reserved ones etc ;)
-
YAY!! My copy came in today too. Will hopefully start it this weekend.
-
Awaiting a copy from Ebay. Cant wait, I have nothing to read.
-
FINALLY my book is in at the library i will be picking it up tomorrow
-
I'm not far into reading it still. I sometimes struggle to get through a page before my eyes are shutting on me, going to have to leave the computer off and read every spare moment i get i think.
We're going away for the weekend so i may get some relaxing time... Camping by a river with 2 kids... maybe not :o
Happy reading :D
-
I am struggling to get into the flow....the words are so small..i may need glasses :)
am going to pick it up again tomorrow and see if I can get into it :)
-
I'm finding it not such an easy one to get into but i keep telling myself there's got to be reason why it's in Oprah's bookclub list right!? :D
-
Oh well if OPRAH loves it then I better get reading :)
Myboys...I have to keep re reading parts to know where i was....it seems like its out or order? Is that just me ?
-
Boomba-I definately struggled in the first few pages (pretty much all i've read ;)) to even know which character was which. The names are difficult to read and pronounce, but the bit i read last night seemed to have a bit more flow to it so i'm hoping it's just the introduction of it all that was abit wishy washy :)
-
Thanks ...I will keep at it :) Probably doesnt help that I cant read in bed as its ful of 2 little bodies and a big one :)
-
Sounds comfy but maybe not the best place to try and read a book :p Happy reading :D
-
It took me a while to get started too - but I have enjoyed it a bit better after persevering....
-
AARRGGHH i still havent got my copy from the library when i do get it ill still read it and will wait for the next book after ive finished
-
Yep, I'm struggling getting in to it. And I tried to read it while camping beside a river with my one little boy - so good luck Myboys!!!
I do get the feeling though that I am just in the set up for the book so I am trying ot persevere, but if it still doesn't go anywhere soon I may just have to give up!! It reminds me of the series Lost, just waiting for something to happen that you can make a connection with and it just keeps going........ aaaagggghhhh!
-
I'm so glad its not just me having a hard time getting into the book.
Must remember 'Oprah, Oprah, Oprah' ;)
-
lol well im never suggesting a book again..
I can not get into it at all.. its painful for me. LOL
sorry girls (oprah you have really let me down and made me look bad)
-
Hey Beatrix - don't be like that, I was really liking the sound of the book when i read the back of the cover...;)
Seems like the tricky 'hard to get into bit' is at the beginning of the book, but then it gets easier??? ;)
-
Beatrix - when i picked my book up from the library she said if you can get through the first bit its well worth it!
Im not far into mine yet DD1 has her first day of school today so may get some me time when DD2 naps
-
Definitely different to my usual style - Beatrix don't be silly - that was the whole point from my perspective, I really wanted to be exposed to different books and ideas, not the stuff I normally read. I did enjoy it too, in the end I was keen to see how it turned out. xx
-
The first 50 pages are tough, but it's really good after that...and I think it was a great choice!
-
I've made it to the end of the first chapter so far (didn't get much reading done by the river except travelling in the car :p), it's so difficult to find time to read. It has been difficult to get into but many books like that end up being great and that's what i'm expecting here. I'm sure once we're all done we'll be saying it was well worth perservering :)
-
Just wanted to pop in & say that I've been without internet access for awhile :wall: so will start up with the next book!!
-
My book has finally come in at the library, so i will be starting it tonight.
-
I think i'll have to give this one a miss... No time!
But i'll definitely be in with the next one ;)
-
I still cant get past the first chapter.....I read the blurb and the first chapter seems like a different story???? Hahah maybe they have put the wrong sleeve on it......the first chapter is about a Doctor right????
-
Re: BellyBelly Bookclub
Well I'm around the 50 page mark def a slow starter but I have to say it is picking up and it's on oprahs list there has to be a reason it's on there!!
-
I'm at about page 50 & I'm not minding it either!
Beatrix - The whole idea of a bookclub is to read other books you normally wouldn't ;)
We tend to get stuck in cycles of reading the same genre over & over so a bookclub forces us to read other styles... and expand our interests.
Don't worry at all about suggesting anything - whether we love it or hate it, it will make for a great discussion ;)
Just a suggestion as I was thinking the other night - do you think we should pick the books a month/ 2 months ahead?
Just thinking for those who have to go on a waiting list at the library, or who have to order books in at their local bookshop, it gives everyone plenty of time to order/wait for the book to come in & doesn't cut into their reading time?
Let me know your thoughts ;)
-
Re: BellyBelly Bookclub
I think that's a good idea especially since I had to wait weeks for this book to come in
-
Hollybolly-Good idea about picking the books a few months ahead of time because i see that some have only just got their copy :D
I'm also only up to the beginning of the second chapter :o I'm trying so hard to find the time but i'm struggling.
Boomba you've got the right book ;) Once you get into chapter 2 it'll be like reading a different book. Don't know what it was about chapter 1 but it does seem to get a bit more interesting and easier to read.
DH is going away for 4 days, i hopefully will get some time over the weekend to get a good chunck of it read :D
-
I have started the book, and i wasnt quite sure about the begining, but it seems to have sorted it self out. So hopefully i can finish it.
-
I've just started the book too, only time i can read is on the train to and from work.
-
I'm still stuck..... I know it will get better, and I think I have hit the point where it starts to go uphill, but with my limited time it really isn't calling me back so I tend to be distracted by all the other things I need to do. Can someone come and belt me around the head with it until I start reading it again????
-
One of my NY resoultions is to read 10 books in a year - so I think I might have to join in here :) I'm gonna miss out this one though, I just don't think I'll be able to read something so quick
-
So has anyone finished?
I am 3/4 of the way through, and im struggling to finish it, i just want to put it down and never pick it up again. And that is saying something...i always finish a book!! So i am going to have to finish it, like it or lump it!!! :D
-
im just at page 60 or so. so far im enjoying. dnt think i can finish it in time :(
-
I'm up to 70ish i think, stuggling to get the time and keep reading the same thing over again it seems. Don't think i'll finish it in time either but i'm going to keep readying anyway :D
-
LOL LisaB, oh I feel you!
How is everyone else finding it?
-
Are we still trying to read Love in the Time of Cholera... I haven't started yet but I've got a copy of the movie so I can always PRETEND I've read it, just to help the conversation ;).
-
Hah nice one Marydean. I think we are meant to start chatting about it today?
-
I think discussion was from the 20th - tomorrow. I was awake for 3 hours in the middle of the night the other night so figured i would try and catch up on some reading. Or at the very least it would put me back to sleep.
Well I read heaps, although I am still in the middle of chapter 2, and it didn't put me to sleep. But, I still really have no inclination to pick it back up again. There is just too much waffle going on in between the story line for my liking!!
Marydean, I was thinking I might get the movie just so i can understand the plot line at the very least to be able to contribute even a little to the discussion!!
