Not exactly about Australia Day but google 'My Place' by Nadia Wheatley or 'My Place' by Sally Morgan. They are completely different books but both present a history of Australia in very different ways.
Not sure if that helps much, but both are very good and include something of an aboriginal perspective (though Sally Morgan's book is written for young teenagers so it might be a bit more than what you are looking for). Nadia Wheatley's book is a picture book but doesn't focus particularly on Australia - just how Australia has changed over 20 decades.
ETA: Just a little blurb about Nadia Wheatley -Her works often focus on "the difficulties faced by Aborigines or non-English-speaking newcomers to Australia, ... environmental issues and the effects of social change”.[1] She has been involved in developing projects to raise children's awareness about their environment and local history.
