I've finally decided to see what all the fuss is about. Does Twilight really live up to the hype?
I've seen the movie (well, bits of it in between tending to a cranky baby), and wasn't overly impressed - but I'm assuming the book is better, or that the movie is better if you've read the book???
I thought I would give the book a go, two weeks later I had read all four!!! I loved it and I was so disappointed that there are no more. Definately worth a read.
I haven't seen the movie and found the first book a little *blah* to begin with but after the first third (maybe) I did't want to put it down. When I finished the first I went out and bought the second as it was out at the library.
Love the books hate the movie. You just cant translate such great writing to a 2 hour pithy visual dance for teens. (can you tell Im against books being translated to film? lol)
Go the books forget the movie lol
The movie was crap compared to the books. The books are awesome. The movie lacked substance in the character development I thought, whereas the books, you get drawn in to each character.
The books are great, provided you keep in mind that the writing/editing is TERRIBLE and that it's basically just a trashy romance novel aimed at teenagers. The movie would have been better if the acting weren't so awful (seriously, tell me none of you wanted to switch it off when Edward did the whole 'screwy-uppy-facey-thing' at Bella when she first walked into Science class?!), but yes, the books are much, much better.
They're not stellar or anything, I mean like I said the writing is pretty terrible and it waffles on a bunch with meaningless drivel that could well have been edited out, but you will probably find yourself hooked. I knew it was crap, but I still couldn't put it down I devoured all four books shortly after my mum gave them to me for Christmas
Im glad you made this thread, I almost bought a copy of Twilight on the weekend but was talked out of it by the sales assistant, Im glad I was cause I dont think I would have enjoyed as much as others have.
I ended up buying Julia Morris' new biography, very entertaining, interesting adn even had me in tears at a couple of points, I recommend it.
I LOVED IT!!! I was worried about it being aimed at kids but i am in the middle of reading eclipse for the 2nd time.
Movie sucked arse.....books amazing!!!
I wasnt going to get on the twilight band wagon either but did just beofre christmas and it has now consumed me
I love the books! Yes its not most amazing piece of literature but thats ok with me! Having Ds and baby brain it makes it easier to read lol! I know it was aimed at teenagers but hey I would love to be 17 again so this definately takes me there! And I love a good romance slash fanatsy novel! I woish I could write a novel! She must be doing something right
The books are far better than the movie but you cant cram a whole book into a moive can they, in saying that I would have quite happily sat through 4 hours of Rob Pattinson lol!
Very easy to read so you will get them finsihed fairly quickly! Enjoy! xx
i wasn't too keen on the idea of it either to begin with - my SIL gave me her copy and said that I would enjoy it. So i gave it a go, and now, i am just about finished the first book and can hardly put it down.... I won't see the movie as I have heard nothing but crap about it.... and I have such great pictures in my head from reading the book anyway, I've got my own little movie going on LOL
Oh yeah Sterla! I really was 'blah' about Twilight.... but once I started New Moon I couldn't stop. Getting into Twilight was hard but then I was hooked!! Glad you are liking it so far.
It's good for a bit of flush in the face thinking about dreamy teen romances either way
Lol - yup! With a little bub I'm quite happy to read something 'easy' and fun, rather than some great piece of literature! At least I'm reading again - it took me about 3 months to get back into it.
Well, I finished Twilight and am now reading New Moon. I really did love Twilight - and New Moon is good so far. Now, if only I wasn't in the process of moving house so I had more time to read them!
Oh, and my MIL has been staying with us over the weekend, and she noticed I was reading New Moon and told me that she had just finished reading the Twilight series. She really liked it! Guess it's not just for the young ones after all .
I've read the four books in the saga. Twilight book is a lot better than the movie. I hope they do the books justice in the next three movies. I found them pretty easy to read.
