    Recommendations for a PERN fan?

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on books for me?

My all time favorite books are the DragonRiders of Pern series by Anne McCaffrey. I have every single book (including the ones written with her son, and the ones he's written solo) and I recently read the entire series again, lol. That's at least 22 books in the series. I also have almost every other book and series of Anne McCaffrey's as well.

I also like Isobelle Carmody's books and have two of her series (Obernewton Chronicles and The Legendsong Series).

The last two Obernewton books come out next month, but I want other books to read as well

Anyone have a similar taste in books and have any recommendations?

It sounds like it's the penultimate Obernewtyn update out soon - there's ANOTHER final book coming!

Have you read the Ship Who Sang series by McCaffrey? I love those.

I'm assuming you've already read Lord of the Rings and associated books. I would happily recommend the Discworld series (Terry Pratchett) to anyone - and if you like humour and literature in your fantasy, try Jasper Fford's Bookword books.

George RR Martin's Fire and Ice books may appeal, Terry Brooks has a nice series in Magic Kingdom for sale. I still like the Narnia books. Neal Stephenson's Anathem is on my bookcase for a good reason too.

Love the PERN books too & Carmody

I love my (soft)sci-fi/fantasy - try David Eddings, Tamora Pierce (teen fantasy section of bookstores usually), Mercedes Lackey (Valdemar series / Dragon Jousters series particularly)...

I'll be back later with more if needed (I really should be doing some marking). These are just off the top of my head (I have far too many of these genre books in my bookcases

Have you tried the Philip Pullman His Dark Material trilogy, the first one is the Northen Lights. It was made into that bad movie, The Golden Compass with Nicole Kidman, but the books are better.

Also, the Eragon series is ok too, although still waiting for the final book to come out.

I'm happy to hear that the next book in the Obernewytn series is coming out, I've been waiting and waiting for that one!

Try Robin Hobbs - Royal Assassin series, Madship series & Tawny Man series are all part of the same story and are all fabulous.
