I've finished the Sara Henderson and am now re-reading Twilight. Enjoying it much more now I've read it before and I'm not listening to the hype :)
I am reading "Beyond the Band of Brothers"
I'm just in the first chapters of this too. I loved the first one and like you said, there were so many characters to keep up with especially if I didn't get to read every night I had to try and jog the old memory. I'm just up to a really good part and can't wait to get into it tonight.:

What is it about? Anna is a married woman back in the whatever hundreds (horse and cart day) in Russia, she has an affiar with someone in the military, so it is about their story. It also interwines with other people such as Levin who is a farmer who is in love with Kitty, but she rejects his proposal early in the story as she is hoping that Volonsky (who Anna has the affair with later) proposes, but he doesn't. Also has the odd story crop up about Anna's brother Stephan.
Are you enjoying it? can take it or leave it. But being an 800 + book I borrowed from the library I am trying to read 50 pages a night to get it read.
Reading it cause it is on the FaceBook 100 book list challenge and I want to read as many as I can from the book list this year as I hadn't read very many of them.

What is it about? Set in Jackson, Mississippi, 1962. It follows the story of 3 women, 2 black maids and a white woman.
Are you enjoying it? I am enjoying it. It's interesting and entertaining. I'm pretty picky on the types of books I choose to read, so it's hard to find a book that I think I might enjoy.
I'm reading it because it's on a few bestseller lists and the storyline seemed really interesting. Plus the reviews online talked me into it.

What is it about? A non-fiction book, helps learn the insight into the "why" of meditation and its goals, not so much the "how".
Are you enjoying it? Yes, so far. Concentration levels keep waning, but I am genuinely interested in it.
I'm reading it because (like many others) I am someone who needs to understand something before I can do it. And, since I can't meditate (well, it doesn't seem like that I can in actual "meditation", yet seem to find peace in sweeping), I want to learn more about it.
Yeah, I'm not sure about the sweeping thing myself.... :shakehead:

I finally finished The Book Thief - AMAZING. If you get a chance, please read.
Stardust - Neil Gaiman
Loved this book so much. Ah, just magical. A fairy-tale for grown ups. They did make a movie of this but the book is just soo much better. If you like fantasy/faerie stuff, I would highly recommend this.
The Secret Lives of Dresses - Erin McKean
Enjoyable. About a girl who takes over her grandma's vintage dress shop. I particularly liked it because there is a beautiful little vintage dress shop near where I live and I could just picture that shop as the shop in the book. Your standard love story/chick lit, but an enjoyable read nonetheless.
Purfume: The Story of A Murderer - Patrick Suskind
Loved it. A sensory journey through word. Man with a superhuman nose starts murdering in search of the perfect scent. Strange but oh so good.
Breakfast at Tiffany's - Truman Capote
Meh. Was ok. Pretty sure everyone knows the story lol. Movie was better than the book imo. I guess I was expecting more out of it? But anyway, was a quick read. Ok I guess.
Love and Punishment - Wendy Harmer
I quite enjoyed this one - it was given to me, I didn't think I'd like it but I actually did. Was an easy read, quite funny. About a woman going through a break up after her partner of 5 years runs off with a woman 12/13 years his senior. Everything crashes down when her little revenge incident comes to light, but (as with most stories) all ends well.
High Fidelity - Nick Hornby
Loved it. About Rob, a loser-ish guy who owns a somewhat failing record store. He decides to do some soul searching and contacts his old girlfriends after his long term girlfriend leaves him. Funny, sad, and sweet. Lots of music references. I really enjoyed this, and would recommend it to anyone who has recently gone through a break up (al la myself... same as the above book).
I think that's all... as I said, I had a heck of a lot of free time, so I scoffed down as many books as possible.
Book thief is one of my all time fav books. Along with thousand splendid suns, and the kite runner.
Perfume is a great book, although I think I would not reccommend reading wehn pregnant, his descriptions threw my stomach into knots when I first read it ::D
At the moment Im reading 'The Five People You Meet In Heaven'.
Its pretty good, although its playing havoc with my dreams.
Just finished the 19th wife, which is about the LDS. Great murder whodunnit plots. Also read House Rules by Jodi Picoult. I normally read one of her books after a heavy book..
I'm reading the Twilight saga still. Getting through it though. And I'm enjoying it a lot more this time around.
You know what I miss? A book that is just WOW. Like when Memoirs of a Geisha came out. Or Harry Potter. Whether you're a fan or not, there was a book out that everyone just "had" to read. Or maybe I'm just wearing my ear plugs and am not listening :P Sorry, went a bit off topic there, but just thinking aloud.
Beansbeans, I read the 19th wife last year and loved it too. The Book Thief is one of my favorite novels too. :)
PakRag, have you read "The girl who kicked the hornet's nest"? A lot of people have also been talking about Jonathan Franzen's Freedom, and The Slap by Tsiolkas. I haven't read either, but I know they're big. Another that's on the bestsellers right now that sounds really interesting is called A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness.
I'm reading Cadfael mystery novels, found a whole stack for 20c each at the Church jumble sale. Injavemt read them since uni and I forgot how much I liked them

I'm reading 'Snow Falling on Cedars' - enough said! lol. I'm sorta enjoying it. I'm not getting much reading time & I'm not good with books to just read them here & there. I like to read a novel in a week or 2, not over longer than a month - I'm just not finding time atm!

I am reading vonnegut's breakfast if champions right now. I don't know a lot about him, but from the style of writing I am assuming he sits somewhere on the autism spectrum. It is at times exceptionally peurile, very erratic but it is mixed with some incredible brilliance which some how makes it acceptable! Can't say I would recommend it at this stage.
I have just finished Anita shreve's the weight of water (I think this is the title, sorry!) and it was excellent, she is an extremely balanced writer and I always love her work.
Also this week I read 'still Alice' which was a beautiful, heart breaking, very well written story which I would highly recommend!

I've just gotten back into reading big time!! I sit there while DD goes to sleep in her cot- its great!! A bit of me time every evening!!!
I have just finished "The Sacred Bones" by Michael Byrnes
Its a fictional story about secrecy within the Catholic Church and the Knights Templar. Its set in modern times though when the Church discovers that Jesus' remains are possibly burried in a secret tomb in Jerusalem. So basically the Catholic church sneak in and steal them to keep it all a secret- causing even more conflict between the Palestinians and Israli's who dont know who stole the stuff or what they stole and they both blame eachother. Basically if the "truth" were to come out it would put a huge spin on things and change alot of people's beleifs about Jesus' death and resurection. And also aparently settle the ongoing debate on whether the Jewish people first held Jerusalem as thir own, as the tomb itself predates the Palestinians being there.
The cool part is that with the modern day technology the church do tests on the bones and it is infact Jesus! Would be very interesting if any of it was based on fact!! But i think it is just a good interesting story!
I really enjoyed it!! I am right into differing views on religion and a good conspiricy theory always gets me!!
