Just turned the TV on before & left it on an info-mericail (which I normally turn off at the speed of light) because I wanted to see why anybody would want MR T advertising their product....
Anyway, I think I was totally sucked in, the ad was for this turbo oven deal'e that cooks with halogen lights, convection & infared, up to 3 times faster than conventional cooking methods & without the soggyness or inconsistant cooking that a micro can give (we have a micro but it's not even in the kitchen & we never, ever use it.).
What I liked about it was that you can chuck everything in, even from frozen, and less than 20 minutes later - ta da! Perfectly cooked (apparently) goodness.
AND, it practically washes itself up....
I know I probably don't need another kitchen gadget (there was a breadmaker fiasco last year.....) but it DID look cool, and handy. The Danoz one was like $200 but there are some similar looking ones on ebay for much less...
...so, does anyone have one? Why? Is it as cool as it looks? What can you cook in it?
Hey there
I got one of these for Chrissy from my MIL. It is Tiffany brand.
I was sceptical but after giving it a go am so impressed - does the nicest most tender roast chicken and veg too in about one hour! Given it has been hot I have not tried much else in it. Given my oven is floor level and my 18 month old is into everything at the moment it is a safe baking option!
It is easy to clean but I would not say it cleans itself!

Belinda.
i have a similar thing... they dont clean themselves really! but you can put the big bowl part in the dishwasher.
and it is good to put on a roast in the middle of summer. We just put it out on the verandah. House stays cool. Also take it when we go away in a caravan etc.
but i would go for the ebay option if you can, it could just end up as another one of those fabulous appliances that you have to have ... which end up stuck in the back of a cupboard taking up space... (pie maker )
I had an older version. They've been around for years. They definately do NOT wash themselves . I also found that the food was often very dry in it. BUT, all the fat drips to the bottom so def a healthier way to cook!
