My BIL is a chef and makes the most utterly delish deluxe creamy bacon cabonara I have ever had.... but the rotten turd won't share the recipe with me! He is a good guy, just a big meany!
This is the best fettuccine carbonara recipe I have ever tried and to make it even better it is from the Symply too good to be true books so low fat etc.

1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
1 onion diced
3 rashes bacon or 1 cup of 97% fat free ham
3 cups mushroom sliced
1 tablespoon flora light margarine (or whatever you have)
2 tablespoons plain flour
1 x 375ml can evap light milk
3/4 cup skim milk
2 sachets of mushroom cup a soup
1 teaspoon vege stock powder
2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
pepper to taste
300g dry fettuccine pasta
Cook fettuccine pasta.
Coat a large non stick saucepan with cooking spray, saute garlic and onion for 2 minutes, toss in bacon/ham and cook for 2 minutes. Add sliced mushrooms and cook a further 2-3 minutes.
Remove from pan and set to one side.
In same saucepan put margarine, flour, evap milk skim milk, dry soup mix, stock powder and cheese give a whisk until its reasonably combined. stir over heat until thickened and smooth.
Return mushroom mixture to pot and stir to combine, serve over pasta once cooked.
