Chuck all the colours in together!! It usually makes brown....
Uumm, I think red and blue would be best, a good purple is hard to achieve I find it goes brown easily - maybe a dash of yellow for good luck.
Does anyone know which combinations of food colouring do I use to make brown? Or are there other ways to make brown icing?
I'm wanting to make brown coloured icing which I'm going to ice the sides of cupcakes in a basket weave and put little choc eggs on top for easter.

If you are using the Queen food colourings they suggest the following combo:
Yellow 6 drops
Red 6 drops
Blue 4 drops
You could also try a strong brew of coffee or track down Parisian essence, which I think Queen produce as well.
Thanks ladieswill give those a go
i think there is browning essence (i think thats what it is called) with all the other colorings i would get myn out of cupboard but i packed it as we are moving house. You can also use it to make gravy so may be with the gravy isle. ill just go double check
ahh you are in luck
"queens Parisian browning essence" for browning gravies, soups, broths, beef tea, cakes and puddings". You get it at wool worths or coles
hope this helps
Why not just use cocoa? Or melted choc? Easier and YUMMIER!
I had an ex who said that his Gran made the best gravy as she put parisian essence in it. Didn't have the heart to tell him that it only added colour, not flavour![]()
