Usually within the first few months.
Although I have found older things in my chest freezer, got em out, cooked em up, just fine. Sloppy things tend to last a bit better, other things dry out the longer they are in the freezer.
I cleaned out the freezer yesterday finally![]()
And with my new slow cooker, great birthday present from DH's family, if I bag up and freeze up the left overs, along with dishes like lasagne, tuna mornay etc, how long can I freeze them, before needing to reheat and eat them.
It is a freezer above the fridge, separate door to the fridge.
TIA![]()

So 2-3 months at the most, yeah some of the meat I threw out yesterday had freezer burn, not very nice...
I reckon up to about 6 months in the deep freeze - if you reheat in a covered oven dish. I guess that would be less in an upright freezer that you're opening all the time so 2-3 months. I label all mine with the date its made so never any guessing.
Cool thanks MD, I just have to remember to label everything, will be good to have a few meals sitting away for those nights we don't feel like cooking![]()
Yeah, they don't always last very long here either. So nice just to drag something out and plop it in the oven.Reminds me we should have a tuna mornay some time soon. Right time of year for it now!
