    Wholegrain mustard

    i love putting wholegrain mustard in my homemade burgers BUT i just opened my jar and it seems to be slimey (sp?) i cant see the used by date but i know i only bought it a few months ago.....

    is it ok or not??

    i know sometimes an oily layer forms at the top. is that what you mean? All the grains settle in the one i buy.
    My general rule of thumb is if you think something is iffy then chuck it. I honestly think that better to be safe then sorry.
    On another note I didn't think mustard could really go off. can it?

    no its like when i put the spoon in to get some out it all came out kinda slimey... umm i dont know how to explain it LOL

    I just asked my DP and he says to have a little taste and if it tastes vingery then its off.

    it looks like i have cracked an egg and stirred the mustard into it.. (its not yellow of course
