Real butter, twice cooked so the bottom is brown, and with marmalade. I'll be trying Rouge's suggestion of fresh tomato, cheese, basil... but I don't like the idea of Vegemite.

yumm, def buying some crumpets tomorrow! I like mine with golden syrup or cheese and crushed up bacon stock cube (don't knock it till you try it) grilled under the griller!!
I've had crumpets for dessert every night this week, DH and I LOVE them with nuttelex and the vegan nutella (it's got a purple wrapper and is super delicious).
I've never thought of them as a savoury food, but I'm willing to expand my horizons.
I like mine with golden syrup and butter totally yum

Always with lots of butter and then : honey or maple syrup or vegemite or peanut butter or melted cheese and tomato.....
