    Question How Much Food?

I'm just working out how much food to make for Abbey's Dedication afternoon tea and need some help please!!! We are going to no fuss option as I think we'll be too tired after the car trip from Vic to SA...

    So far the food is consisting of;
    Sandwiches
    Butterfly Cakes
    Lamingtons OR Profiter Roles
    Cake

My Question is, how many sandwich rounds (half a sandwich) would you make per person? It is a 2:30pm service and will go for approx 30min....

    TIA

Because it's arvo and there will be other food, I would say a round per person. I could be way off though and often am, but that would mean some won't have any and others will have more than that. it should average out. xoxo

At that time of day, with other food too, I would say allow 1 slice of bread per person (1/2 a round) would be ample..........

From memory, from my hospitality days, we worked on afternoon tea as being "4 bites"

ie 2 quarters of a sandwich, 1 biscuit, 1 slice of cake

Bear in mind, it is not a meal, just a nibble.............

The above may not sound "enough" but this is how we would cater so as not to waste any at all...........it may be that you want to do more, for peace of mind & so that it never looks like it will run out!

Especially when Grandma and Grandpa are baking the cakes!!!! Everyone LOVES their cakes!

Thanks for your help girls. I did suspect 1 round each would be enough with the other bits and it IS an afternoon tea and not a "meal"... Now to decide what to put in them!!!

for the sandwiches, we find the big faves are egg or egg/lettuce, ham (or any meat, but we usually use ham), tomato....

i tend to find that chucking some sausagae rolls in the oven is really useful too - so easy, and will always go down a treat... ut we also have a family of big eaters - even the kidlets will have a decent feed at something like that and then not have much dinner...

and yeah - butterfly cakes are awesome!!

I think pretty much the same as the other girls, it is an afternoon tea, pop out some biccies and yeah I think add some co*ktail pies and sausage rolls they are always a hit and are great fillers. but I think your list sounds great especially the butterfly cakes hehehe
