    Making your own muesli

    We eat Brookfarm muesli, which is yum but so expensive..... if we pour a bowl and don't eat it I feel like I'm pouring gold flakes down the sink!
    I want to mix my own and I was wondering does anyone here do this and if so where do you get the goodies?

    Hi Thepixie,
    I have a fab home made toasted muesli recipe that is delicious as well as very nutritional. I can't survive without...

    Beckstar's Toasted Muesli

    4cups rolled oats
    2cups oat bran
    1cup of each of the following;
    -wheatgerm
    -crushed nuts
    -cocount
    -sunflower seeds
    -pumpkin seeds
    -almond flakes
    1/2 cup of sunflower seeds & linseed

    In a saucepan, mix together 3/4 cup oil, 1cup honey and tbsp vanilla essence. Once these are heated & combined, add to dry mix and stir thru.

    Place mix into an ungreased cooking tray and bake in 180 degrees oven for 10-15mins until top is slightly browned.

    Allow to cool, then add sultana's & diced dried apricots.

    Can even be great as a mid afternoon snack in a mug with milk if your feeling like something a little bit sweet- better for you than chocolate and just as yummy :-)
