My mum has been doing a Sunday roast for as long as I can remember! My Dad's mum (nanna) used to it frequently and all us grandkids had a ball playing. Now mum's been doing it for years and we go there every weekend with my brothers and sister and our partners and kids. It's a family tradition! I love it! If it's Mum or Dad's birthday or Mother's Day or Father's Day, then I will tend to stick my hand up and do the Sunday roast for the family.
I buy a roast once a fortnight with the shopping. I try and alternate, but the lamb out here is so fresh and much nicer than beef IMO. I do pork, turkey and chicken too.
No particular night though as what is Sunday really to a shiftworker lol?
Always me that cooks though...DH wouldn't even know where(or what for that matter) the roasting tray was...
we have a roast several times a week.
because its cheap and easy to cook, just chuck it all in the oven and steem some vegies. and only 1 pan and 1 pot to wash. (plus plates etc)
we buy bulk and cut one roast beef into 3-4 smaller ones about 600g per roast.
i do a bake dinner about twice a week kids love my bake dinners
We usually have one once a week - no specific day. Mostly lamb, followed by pork, chicken and beef. But not so much lately as we haven't hung any sheep for a while so the freezer is looking a bit poor atm.

Once a week here- either chicken (I just rub garlic, rosemary and sea salt into the skin), beef or lamb.
I do the most boring roasts :lol: Just the meat, three veg, seasoned with garlic, rosemary and salt and pepper. But that's the way we like 'em.
I no longer trust dh to cook roasts after he mixed in soy sauce with the oil for the vegies and then laid them on newspaper once they were done. My taters had adds on them.
I love to cook a lamb roast in the slow cooker as often as I can. Lamb roasts are a favourite here. I must do a pork roast again some time for my poor neglected DH who loves pork, but I hate it.
Once a fortnight. Normally pork, occasionlly beef or lamb. Dh cooks them, I have never cooked a roast in my life.
I just had an epiphany reading that (well sort of ;) ), I think from now on I need to do deserts to follow the roast too! It makes it more special, even if its just jelly and icecream! Fun for the kids.:
Varies here, just whenever we feel like one or normally when we see whole chook or a beef/lamb leg on special. No set day either, just really when I know I will be home in the afternoon to put it all on.

I try to have a Sunday roast but it doesn't always happen.
I always do my lamb in the SC now. It's so delish that way.
I do chicken when they have the free-range on special.
When I married DH I was really excited about being able to eat traditional Afghan roasts where they slow cook it them cut it into chunks and char-grill the outside (roast & BBQ how can you go wrong?) but I have never once eaten it - what a let-down :(

We have roast lamb or chicken here sometimes once a week or once a fortnight.Usually on a Wednesday night as its the day I'm home from work early enough to get it all ready. I'm the only one here who cooks. DH wouldn't know where to start :wall:
We have a friend who is a sheep farmer so we get the freshest yummiest lamb when ever we go visit :) If we have chicken I just go to RedLea and buy a ready to cook one that is pre seasoned and ready to cook. I also cook it in an oven bag to eliminate the splatter while its cooking. Oh and a large chook takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to cook.
We usually have a banana split or apple pie and icecream for desert.YUMMMMM!!!!!
we have roast once a fortnight. i throw it in with the shopping. we would like it more often, but we only get organic, free-range (farm killed if possible). and it appears that if you want that, you gotta own a gold mine LOL!
we generally have chicken or pork (depending on what the butcher has...ie if his farms that he buys off have it...
i do the roasts. DH has NO idea when it comes to roasting. once he decided to 'surprise' me and cooked a roast chicken...upside down, no seasoning, nothing. just threw it in and pumped up the gas LOL! it was horrid!!
i LOVE doing Jamie Olivers roast chicken. it is just yummy.
for pork, i do the basic, rock salt in the cuts and grinded salt on top and on the meat, stuff the cuts with rosemary/sage...and maybe a bit of honey...
usually have a side of apple sauce that i have cooked with a cinnamon stick. yum! oh and roast taties and sweet potato...
BUT no gravy. dont know how to make it!!! :redface:
Ooh, I love roast dinners!! I do one a week usually, I can't stand meat on the bone so I usually get those honey & macadamia rolled roast (chicken) from Lenard's or the equivalent (we don't have a Lenard's here anymore but the 'butcher' - they really only do chicken - always has them so I pick one up when doing the groceries), or if pork is on special at Woolies I'll grab a lump of it so we can have crackling :)
I do crunchy roast potatoes with garlic, roast pumpkin, a bit of sweet potato for myself (DH won't eat them) and then steamed carrots, corn, peas and broccoli, and I make gravy the 'proper' way (using pan juices for extra flavour)... and my goodness we're full afterwards, we never have room for dessert!
My roast dinners are DH's favourite so I do one at least a week to make up for cooking 'all that other crap' (stir-fries etc, he's a meat-and-taters kind of bloke but I like spicy exotic food that's simple to prepare and fast to cook) :)
i do lamb shanks and roast veges probably once a fortnight - just for me, one night when I get home from work - takes about 30-45 mins in the oven, I can put it on when I get home, have a shower, some downtime and then eat!
I like doing roast lamb and roast chicken. DH doesn't like roast beef and I don't like pork lol. I miss my grandmother's roast - she was a fabulous cook, and her baked dinner was the best.
