Ellissa, I usually just make sandwiches with whatever filling they feel like, or if it is cold, maccaroni cheese, party pies, pita pizzas or something warm. When DH is home, it is usually a cooked meal as he hates sandwiches.
Just moving this to Recipes, cooking and food too...
well, today is my first day as a soon to be SAHM.
Went i got some groceries on the weekend, i brought some of the velish soup, as well as contintential pasta packets, in wholegrain, which where on special at woolies.
On the weekends, we tend to either not have lunch, or just have some pies or i get a roast chicken from woolies, and some fresh bread rolls.
I do left overs like pasta or soup, sometimes I make a salad & put left over meats on it and dressings... I sometimes do sandwiches and sometimes when I'm lazy I pull out our hommous (I make at least 1 batch a week) and dip some carrot or rice crackers into it.
I have some cup o' soups for the days when the kiddies are too crazy for me to be able to make anything more.
Most days I have a sandwich though... but I get hungry around 2pm if I do so I try to have something a bit more substantial which will tide me over til dinner.
Leftovers from dinner the night before is a frequent meal here... I don't go to too much fuss... we can't afford too many convenience (pre made supermarket meals) so i cook alot from scratch. I'm just about to make some scones... I bake nearly every day... especially in winter, helps warm up the house so I don't need to turn the heating on. Soup is a great lunch... throw in what ever needs using up... lentils and legumes are very cheap/filling and versatile. We are a bit extravagant with bread though... avoid the mass market stuff... love Phillipa's and Flinders. My kids aren't fussy... they eat whatever i make... my youngest included... i've hardly ever made separate meals for them.
I am having the same problem but it has been over a year for me lol
I eat sandwiches but I dont like them in winter, I should make more soups and stuff but I have enough trouble making dinner. I sometimes have left overs or I like to go out but I cant afford that all the time. Today I got a pasty while I was out.
I love the soup from woollies, think it's a heinz range. Anyway, I have it really often (particularly this close to winter). There are heaps of different kinds. xo
Thanks girls!
we will be making up a big batch of soup soon for the freezer so i can use that to!
all our leftovers atm are being frozen for use after the birth(when we cant be bothered starting from scratch)
i dont really want to use alot of conveinience foods as money is now a limited recsource!(iykwim)
i love scones maybe i will make up a batch tomorrow for lunch! mmm i dont think makon has had them before!
