    fruit/veg juice ideas?

Hi, I just discovered my mum has a juicer in her kitchen, she doesn't use it because its a pain to clean.. I just gave it a go with some apples, cleaned it and I think I can manage to do it regularly if I don't feel too lazy.

Anyway, just want to see if anyone has any ideas for mixed fruit/veg juices that are good for pregnancy? Also, how long can you store juice in the fridge? I thought you'd need to drink it straight away, but is it ok to make a jug of it and have some the next day or does it go bad?

    cheers

Hi, juices are so great for pregnancy and any combination really that you feel like. They really are best to drink on the day but depending on what type of juicer it is you may be able to keep it for a day. Enjoy

Healthiest if drunk within 12 hours of juicing, after that time the colour and flavour start to change.

I love carrot beetroot and apple, with or without an orange thrown in. Just go easy on the beetroot or you will be running to the dunny the next day

In my first PG I used to crave carrot and watermelon juice all the time, that's another one that's really good.

ZOMG - on the weekend I discovered this one:

    1 x beetroot
    3 x apples
    1 x small lemon
    1 x pinch of mint

    apple-carrot-celery-ginger-orange is also a fave
watermelon-pear-beetroot is one I had with my sis once that was awesome, and always reminds me of her. We call it Barbie Juice.
    grapefruit-pear-carrot
    apple-strawberry-kiwi

You can use anything. When it's fresh, it all tastes amazing.

In general, carrot can go with any fruits, and apples can go with any vegetable, but other than that mixing fruits and veg together can cause really bad wind. They taste nice, but the after effects arent alwats pleasant

I love fresh juices and we have them all the time at our place. Here is a couple that I've made this week but the other girls are right so long as you drink them as they are freshly made any combination tastes great!

    beetroot, carrot & orange
    watermelon & mint
    apple, celery & cucumber

It's always good to clean your juice machine as soon as you make the juice because if you leave it too long the pulp sticks to the machine and its just more of a pain to clean. If you use beetroot definately clean it straight away as it can stain.

    Have fun.

I made a Vit C cruncher when we were all sick and it was awesome!:

    I put them all in:
    manderine
    orange
    pineapple
    carrot
    ginger
    mint

Nnnnnoooommmmmmm sometimes I added in something red/pink like berries, but most of the time it was orange

I used to do apple, carrot & celery all the time, sometimes with beetroot thrown in. Celery is good for fluid retntion too.

hmm, should go dig the juicer out.....

mmm yum they all sound great! I have a mountain of oranges so I made orange and mandarin juice this morning, maybe I'll add carrot or apple tomorrow or both.

I read somewhere that too much carrot juice can make your skin turn yellow?!?

thanks for the cleaning tip Aussiegirl hopefully I don't get sick of pulling the machine apart and putting it back together every day!

True. You have to have a fair bit though. One a day in juice would be ok.
