Urgh, suggestions on how to drink town water...

The water here, is disgusting. Flouridated water is terrible in general, not to mention this tastes like chlorine. I love water, and I am missing going to the tap to get a glass as I know i can drink 4-5litres a day in this weather.

I have been buying Pureau water from the supermarket, but it gets costly after a while, so I need some suggestions on how to drink our town water.

I have tried a filter, tried drinking it with a little lemon juice... but had to make it taste like lemon before it helped, freezing cold... I haven't tried boiling yet but i just don't see it helping.

Has anyone else had any similar issues and found a way to overcome it. I am soooo thirsty. But the water makes me feel sick.

I am so with you on this! Our town water here is FERAL. It tastes like I'm chewing on a metal pipe and its really hard. I want my sunny coast water back, it seemed so much fresher! I'm going to boil and hope it works! Hope you get some nice water soon xxxxx

Boil it, or can you buy a filter thingy which cleans the water?? Can't think of what they're called, but I would think they would slightly change the taste of the water too??

Try getting a Brita tap filter, and then use it to fill the kettle or a pot to boil it. Then pop it in the fridge or keep it on the bench. You can also get tablet thingies that dissolve and purify water. Try googling for those.

I boil the water and let it cool before filtering in my Brita jug, it means I have several containers of water in my fridge cooling to keep up with this water sculling family We have bore water in with the town water as well as flouride

I couldn't stand the smell of tap water when I was pregnant, so we had large 15L bottles delivered to the house - cheaper than buying it at the supermarket.

Then we switched over to a Stefani ceramic filter - bought the bench-top set-up at Bunnings for about $50. Have been pretty pleased with the result. Perhaps the filter you were using wasn't a good one?

my sis has a thingy installed under the sink. is a big filter and they put a tap on top of the sink. bit $$$$y but her revolting tap water tastes like rain water now. think she paid 3-400??? and you nver run out or have to refill things. filter gets changed every couple yrs depending on what your water is like.

We have a filter on our sink which we use, we`re on tank water but with no rain we have to buy water in every 3 weeks which comes from town, the last load was disgusting, the filter takes the taste out, we boiled it which just made it worse

We also have the same water filter in the cravan as I just can`t drink town water.

We use a britta filta and it works a treat or you can get the big 15l bottles delivered and they come with a chiller.
