Question What do you prefer,Butter or Margarine?

    Hi ladies,
I was just wondering what most people prefer to use & why? Butter or Margarine.

My children & DH much prefer the taste of Butter, for cooking & when I make sanwhiches/bread rolls etc.... I thought Butter had more Caleries than Margarine, but they contain the same ( 35 Caleries- per 5 gram / teaspoon!) We have switch from buying margarine to Butter now.

I prefer butter because I like the taste, but we have to buy one of 2 specific margarines because DD2 reacts to the lactose in even the tiniest amounts.

    Butter here too.
With the minimal amounts that I use, I'd much prefer to taste butter than margarine... I dred staying at other people's houses that use marg... it has such a fake taste after being used to butter.

i once watched a docco years ago on the manufacturing of marg. It was basically a black color and they colored it yellow. Since then i have been a butter girl through and through. No nasty chemicals in butter.

I have a friend who can't have butter-butter in her house because her boys can't have it due to allergies. As for me, it depends on the type of bread I'm eating - if it's just a regular sandwich, then I use marg, but if I'm having baked-fresh-that-day crusty loaf, then it's butter all the way LOL. And I only use butter in cooking too - marg just doesn't cut it.

    Butter!

We use Mainland Butter Soft for toast etc. It has no additives.

I buy butter blocks in paper for cooking.

Butter all the way here!! I remember years ago my SIL told us all (she is a health freak!!) and marj is one step away from being a liquid plastic...never looked into or anything but just the thought of it makes me feel sick!!

ETA - Just read the thread on marj and I am definately convinced!! Will never buy it again.
