Homemade chilli with loads of labour inducing cumin seed :D
AJP - Snap! I made my sheppards pie last night so I just have to warm it up when I get home from work!
LMS - Hope those labour inducing cumin seeds work for you!
am just asking myself that question... need to go back to meal planning I hate this time of the day when I can't decide what to do for dinner!
Pawpaw, Chicken and Kaffir Lime salad. It has a tamarind, ginger, soy, palm sugar and cumin dressing and is really good.
Num Suse!!!!
Rogan Josh lamb curry.... its been in the slow cooker (and it ain't no jar baby....) I have a feeling the nappies won't be pretty tomorrow!!!
I'll send you over some of mine Christy if you send me some of yours ;)
Let's all live in a community together, so I can visit each person for dinner each night...I'll do your dishes.
Fried rice here. Not exciting, but it's not cocoa-pops.
ahhh Nelle we have fried rice every few weeks for dinner!! Not a bad thing :)
fish and chips!!
I dunno Nelle, fried rice can be pretty darned exciting. But maybe that's because I've had a hankering for it for months now...
We're either having a pasta thingi with zucchini, sage, salami, olives and tomatoes, or more likely, fish & chips or something that doesn't involve me cooking. But we do have citron tart and a chocolate custard ?clair from the French patisserie... mmmm.
I'm being bad - I've just ordered Hell Pizza plus some Camembert quarters with aoli
Oooh, that sounds good Punkin
We're having lamb cutlets, but not sure what to do with them. It's 33 degrees and humid as anything at the moment. Any ideas?
We're going to have a pizza as dp doesnt finish work until 9.45! I might make some potato wedges though and have salad too as I don't actually like pizza so much - then I can eat the wedges and salad and he can have the pizza lol - ideal!
Hmmm .....
I had ....
A double beef and cheese burger meal, large with a vanilla milkshake and a large caramel sundae :D:D yummy!
Sarah how do you have such a good figure eating stuff like that??
Kids are at their dads so I am having something totally unhealthy... Nachos with HEAPS of cheese and avocado! Now I am full!
Hahaha What figure? I suppose it was all the vomiting I did the first 20 weeks of pregnancy :o
Well I did the right thing and cooked a big, hearty casserole with dumplings last night, made a double batch so there's plenty of leftovers, I'm considering just reheating it? It's one of DH's new favourites, so I don't think he'll mind terribly if I put it in front of him again!!
Either that, or steak and vegies, because I haven't put them in the freezer yet from when I did the shopping the other day so I'd best be using them ASAP!! Might put them in the freezer a bit later on (I'll ask DH what he prefers lol, he hates having to make the decisions!) and have them later in the week seeing as we had beef last night (in the casserole). I like to mix it up a bit, chicken, then beef, then pork, then chicken, then lamb, etc...
When I did grocery shopping last week I saw this roll up roast at Lenard's....Its a Chicken Honey Macadamia Roast so that is for dinner tonight with steamed vege!! And Roast Corn....YUMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
^ I LOVE those Honey Macadamia roasts!! They're the yummiest thing going, and sooo easy!! :D
We're having friends for dinner and I'm freaking out! I am NOT a good cook!!
Honey almond chicken
Roast Vege Salad
and Choc peanut sauce with vanilla icecream.
And the house is FILTHY. :o
Ah Nelle, don't worry about the house. Your friends will be so blown away by the awesome meal (which sounds brilliant BTW, if you ever get a chance to post the recipe, I'll love you even more than I do now) that they won't even notice the mess.
Have fun!!
As for what we're having for dinner tonight, it's Tight-wad Tuesday, so $5 pizza. Dodgy as, but it beats cooking. Last night was much more impressive (and healthy) - chicken in mushroom marsala sauce with baked potatoes, beans, asparagus and broccoli.
nothing exciting here as im too exhausted to cook so its plain old snags and vege here.
Bad, bad wife night. Spag bol... but I'm just that lazy I'm not even making it from scratch, just using a jar of Leggo's sauce stuff!! DH goes to night courses at TAFE on Tuesdays so I plan something that can be cooked from start to mouth in under half an hour, then he gets home and tells me he doesn't want to eat until he gets home at 9pm so I could well have made the effort and done something more...
BUT, it still makes life easier because DD chucks a nanie if daddy's not here to put her to bed, so by the time I finally get her sorted I'll be grateful that dinner only takes ten minutes.
sittin here on my own, AGAIN, so it's weight watchers frozen meal of tuna bake .
Tight-wad Tuesday pizza's here too Suse... and they were disgusting! Blah.
It's made me remember why I hate commercial pizzas.
DH is out at the mine's working so I defrosted some chilli con carne and rice and put some diced avo in it too!! Lazy night!!
Hahaha Tuesday night = lazy night!
Last night I made homemade BBQ sauce and marinated chicken and then put it on the BBQ and we ate it with salad.
Tonight we defrosted some soup for tea. Potato, leek and bacon soup.
Dinner turned out really good! I was very proud of myself! (And house clean too, I had a panic and called mum cos the boys were being demanding, and we found ants in my cupboards and then River unscrewed the hundreds & thousands lid and made an offering to the ants.)
Which recipe did you want Suse?
Yay for you Nelle! Isn't it wonderful when a meal turns out as well as you hoped! As for River's offering to the ants - Euan does that too. He likes to share his lunch with the ants, and the floor, and the walls... *sigh*. Actually, I think that the ants have realised that they are onto a good thing and have moved in permanently.
Um, could I have both the chicken and roast vegie salad recipes please? Or is that pushing the friendship to ask for both?
Lisa - I hate commercial pizzas too - but our local Eagle Boys makes a half decent crap pizza, in that the ingredients are all recognisable and they are assembled on the pizza in a way that is slightly less haphazard than the usual fare. For $5 they're pretty good; they are better than the 'gourmet' pizza place up the road which charges four times the price. If we want gourmet pizza we make them ourselves - between DP and I we make a damn fine pizza.
That's fine mate.
Honey Almond Chicken
Really should be called honey soy chicken and it's not fancy but it's DELISH!
Chicken breasts
Mix equal parts soy sauce, honey and slivered almonds (recipe says 2tbspn each, but I like it swimming).
Pour mixture over chicken in oiled pan.
At 190C for about 30 min.
Warm Roated Vegetable Salad
I messed with the quantities, and the orig said capsicum, I used zucchini, and added some other things too.
- Quarter butternut pumpkin, cut into small pieces
- 2 large potatoes, cut into small pieces
- 1 zucchini, cut into pieces
- 1 onion (I used a red one), cut into eighths
- whole mushrooms (not huge ones)
- spinach leaves (I used baby spinach)
Put your pumpkin and potato in a covered microwave dish and nuke on 100% for 4 mins.
Mix all vegies (NOT spinach) together and lay them on a large oiled tray.
(I added rosemary, sesame seeds and pine nuts here)
Drizzle or spray oil on top.
Cook at 220C for about 30 mins (will be longer if you cut the vegies biggish).
Line a salad bowl with the spinach leaves.
Put the vegies in the bowl.
Add dressing - equal parts balsamic vinegar and honey, with a bit of olive oil.
It was pretty darned yum, and went with the chicken well cos that had honey in it too.
And just cos I'm a good kinda gal, and it's sooo hard to make
Choc peanut sauce
mix 2 Snickers bars and 1/2 cup cream in saucepan until all melted, and reduce slightly to thicken.
Pour on ice-cream.
Oooh, yummo! Thanks Nelle!
we are having marinated chicken steaks with mash potatoe and vege.
pikelets with jam and cream for dessert
Eagle Boys Premium Pizza's and their Desert Thingies for dessert!! Yum.....
Some flavoured microwaved rice. Not great, but it's fuel.
HAhahaha when I was in uni I lived off them Nelle...
We had chicken ginger&honey stir fry
Pasta with chicken, mushroom, leek and white wine cream sauce. It was a 'oh shoot, it's 8:00 and I'm completely disorganised but don't feel like tinned soup' quicky dinner using the ingredients I'd got for something that was going to go in the slow cooker but didn't quite make it there.
Noice Suse!! My quicky dinner like that is mexican. I'm going to have to start freezing my own batches of beans again to get through it.
Dinner tonight should be grilled lamb salad.... wish me luck!
I might go get some fresh bread rolls later on and make hamburgers. Because I bought two lots of burger patties and I don't want to eat them two nights in a row, so we'll have some tonight and then again on Monday night. (Fried rice and pork chops on the nights in between!)
