She actually told DH. I didn't say a word, or tell her to. Just told them its time to ring dad & she was first. Told him everything. He's really stoked that she told him like that, but, of course, **** himself! Poor Bri had to wait while he talked to me to get the full explanation & double checked I'd asked all the right questions. After the initial, why, how & its not right were out of the way I could tell he wished he was home. Even though he told me thats all my department!
I'm off to google. I know it can be a scary thing that google, but I need it for some sanity right now!!
 you've been given lot's of great advice already but just wanted to let you know that I was thinking of you. Definitely don't envy you :p
Do you think they'd test her for abuse? If so, does anyone know what that would involve? I'm not so sure I want them to go too far in case all the seeing whats up leaves her feeling violated...
Does that make sense? Do you get what I mean?
If they did suspect abuse, then they would need to do an internal to check. But I would assume that would only happen after thoroughly questioning from people in that field.
When I got AF (at 10) it started with a few brown patches on my undies. I had NO idea what it was, and was so scared I just pretended it wasn't there. It was only that my grandmother was washing my clothes (we were on holidays at her house) and she noticed it. She asked me about and I confessed LOL. I had not had 'that talk' and still had no idea. It was so daunting. By the time I was 11 I was wearing bras and was a c cup by the time I started high school.
Good luck with it all when you go to the dr.
Look, in the event that she fell funny at school, or on her bike or something, they would have to have a look wouldn't they?
If they do have a look, it's becuase they need to - you will be in there with her, holding it together well (cos you HAVE to). It's a part of her body that might need to be looked at, that's all.
It might just be she is starting to get AF, and although it would be sorta kinda better if it didn't hit for a few years but there won't be much you can do.
Yeah, I know.
If she were 9 or 10, I wouldn't think twice & would be confident that it was all just part of life.
I dunno. Its all so daunting. Confusing. I actually wouldn't mind too much if it is AF, coz I'd have an answer & that would mean it wasn't something more seriouse. But I'd much prefer if it was a fall! But being inside for 5 days not being able to ride bikes & run feral has me wondering.
I do think I'm being paranoid over nothing really & that it'll all blow over & in 4 or 5 years we might go through what really is AF, & by then we are both more ready for it. But I would much rather be safe than sorry!
And, yes, I will hold it together. I haven't lost it yet, lol.
Ok, if it's stopped, & I take her to the doc, how will he tell what it is?
Even if you've already washed the ones you originally found, do you still have her undies she came home in? Keep them, put them in a plastic bag and take them to the Dr's with you. Hope you can get a car soon and have a proper chat with your Doc.
I hope everything is okay and you get it sorted out quickly.
Well there's nothing over night, so sending her to school today. Will be trying to get an appointment somewhere today or tomorrow.
Good luck Skye!! I'm so curious now :)
Hoping all is ok for you both, and yes, us Mum's are VERY good at keeping it together when we have to ;)

Good luck getting in to the doctors, if I lived closer I'd be over there in a jiffy to help you out :)
they normally get the child to stand on a bed and they have a little look with a light at that area no actual going into it , thats what makes it hard for victims of that age because if there is no obvious sign on the outside well thats as far as they look. they understand its uncomfortable and tramatic for them to look sometimes they may move the flaps away to see.
One thing that crossed my mind - is there a possibility that she's tried to put something inside herself and that might have caused some bleeding?
I thought that to Danni, but I really don't think so. She gave me a similar 'why?' look to the look she gave me when I asked about boys.
I rang our gp. Told the receptionist whats happening & she's putting a message straight through to him.
I think it's important not to send her to school without some protection. Can't she use one of your liners - it doesn't matter if its black.
As for the doctor. You need to just go about this as a body part. Yep it's private & I am sure you've taught her that. If she had had a spill and hurt her vulval area you would look, a doctor would look. That's what's going to happen. As for signs of abuse. Abuse that has caused bleeding typically causes exterior damage. That will be seen on examination. It's far too late now for a semen test - she has bathed etc so that won't be done. The Doctor will use a swab perhaps to help with his examination. The lips of the labia will be very small in most young girls & he certainly will NOT or SHOULD not do anything too invasive. It will be very clear from the outside if damage has been done. He will tell you if the hymen is intact.
Good luck & I have been thinking of you a lot.

We have an appointment with a female gp tomorrow morning at 10am.
Mum's going to come here in her car, then I'll drop her out at work & head back in for the doc.
I don't think I'll have net access after though. I'm waiting in town til mum finishes & having all the kids stuff ready to go coz the girls are staying with mum, while I go with the friend to get my car.
If I have the credit on my phone I'll try to post an update tomorrow arv sometime. If I don't do that I won't be back til Friday night, so I'll try to get on somehow.
Hope all goes well Skye
Oh Skye, I'm sure it's nothing sinister, glad to hear you've got an appointment tomorrow.

Vaginal bleeding after early infancy
From early infancy until a year or two after a girl begins to show signs of breast development as well as other signs of puberty, bleeding from the vaginal area is not normal. While quite often the cause of vaginal bleeding is not serious, it always warrants a visit to her healthcare practitioner for evaluation. A visit to your pediatrician or family doctor is probably the best place to start.
Genital examination of young girls
When it comes right down to it, many grown women don't relish the thought of going for a pelvic examination. So it's not surprising that the idea of subjecting a very young girl to a pelvic examination can be nothing short of horrifying to some parents.
It may help parents who are facing this prospect to keep a couple of things in mind. To begin with, adult instruments--including a speculum--are not used for the genital examination of young children. At most, a genital examination of a girl who has not yet reached puberty may involve briefly using a swab inside the vagina to check the secretions for infection, a procedure that can be uncomfortable but not harmful. Also, vaginal examination with the doctor's finger inside the vagina is never done in very young girls.
If your child's regular checkups typically include an examination of the external genital area, this part of the evaluation will, it is hoped, seem like part of the normal examination routine and won't be as frightening to her.
If your doctor is inexperienced or uncomfortable with doing a genital exam of young children, ask for a referral to someone who is practiced in this field.
Fears: your child's or your own
If you feel that your child is being traumatized by the exam, or if she refuses to be examined, it may be preferable to wait and have her examined while under the use of anesthesia or sedation.
In any case, it's important that your child be checked out. Unexplained vaginal bleeding can be a sign of a serious condition: genital cancer, a vaginal foreign body, or sexual abuse, among others. Don't let your fear of having your child examined prevent you from seeking proper medical care. Choose a practitioner who is compassionate, and have him help you do the right thing and seek the right specialists so that the cause of the problem can be found.
