I am a bit angry over how much my kids sport costs. We had cricket registration yesterday, it cost me a whopping $160 I am positive it was under $100 last year, which included a shirt. On top of that we have to pay $5 ball money each game.
DD plays netball, her registration was around the $70 mark and $5 per game, which I find quite reasonable. They've just announced a spring season for Netball which DD will play in, so that makes it $140 a year + game money, which is around the same as cricket, I suppose.
I think full fee's here for kids netball & footy were only $5. But there's a scheme here you can apply for through the shire that covers the costs. Up to a certain amount a year for each child, to play as many sports as they want.
My netball fee's were $90 for the year.
ETA: Limey, WA has a MUCH much better set up than other states! There are no pavilions etc in NSW that I've ever been too. We have a bar, 2 kitchens, indoor netball courts, kids play rooms, play ground! It was always to the pub after games in NSW. Here they do dinner & drinks at the sports ground! I love it!
Pretty sure the footy clubs here would make a fair amount on money compared to over there though. They made enough just out of me this year

Interesting to see how much swim lessons vary in terms of cost.
Our swimming is $144 per month for 2 kids
Dancing for DD is $6.50 per week plus costume hire ($30 a year) and concert tickets ($20 per adult twice a year)
Looking into soccer for DS which will be around $16 a week plus rego
T-ball is $110 registration and $25 for glove/ball. Uniform provided just have to buy club socks.
Gymnastics is $75 per term with joining fee $40 (1 lesson per week)
Swimming is $120 per term (1 lesson per week)
Dancing was $80 per term (1 lesson per week)
We're in the process of registering for t-ball. Gymnastics has been put on hold as it clashes with t-ball training. Swimming due to be restarted next term. Dancing was stopped as it was Saturdays and her father refused to take her on his weekends do she couldn't participate in the concerts.
Skiing is probably over 1k a year once I factor in things like petrol and equipment.
Riding $20 a lesson.
Tennis $125 a term
Aikido (which includes Japanese language class) $130 a term.
Swimming I think it is about $70 a month.
Horse riding, 2 lessons per week, $100 per week. Our pony, our arena, instructor comes to the house and gives DD1 lessons. Sometimes DS will jump on for a short lesson - he has the attention span of a 7 year old boy!!
Martial Arts = $52 a fortnight. Technically unlimited lessons, but reality 1-2 half hour lessons per week.
Honestly stopping it, DD1 enjoys it, not enough and 2 nights a week is adding a lot of stress the family schedule. So changing her to calisthenics, should be less than $600 for the year.
Tinks, I'd be double checking about the netball registrations - Netball rego is a bastard of a thing. You pay so much money because you come under the governing body for your state - so for me it's Netball NSW, for you its Netball Victoria and they cover all your insurance etc, not your actual club/league that you play for. BUT if you have already paid the full amount for one competition and you are still registered with Netball Vic, then if you play in a second comp during the same year, then technically you don't pay as much as your registration is still valid with Netball Vic. In our Club, we are affiliated with netball NSW, and our annual registration is $60 per junior, and $50 of that goes to Netball NSW. If they are already registered with them through the local town competition, then their rego fees with us are only $10, as they are already registered with Netball NSW. Clear as mud for you? So if they are hitting you up for the full amount again for netball, I'd be asking them why that is, because it shouldn't be that much.
But the cricket is a totally bloody rort and I'd be asking them why it is so much and what exactly does it cover. That just sounds too much considering that they are paying ball fees each week and more than likely he has his own bat that he uses.
It costs me $115 per year for two girls to play netball and a son to play football. When we did little A's it was under $150 per season for the three of them.
Thanks Trillian. I haven't had the bill for the spring season of netball yet because it's just a new thing this year. I assumed I'd have to pay a 2nd time because we always paid per season for basketball. What you've said about Netball Vic makes complete sense.
Cricket is a rip off! The club has just built new nets, that's probably what we're paying for. I sent Dh and DS with $100 expecting to get change but instead they came home with a $60 bill.
