When does the whinging stop..?

hmmm, five weeks of it heh? bilby has been whinging too, especially about other people's houses, back yards etc. As in, "i don't want to go back to our house". I want to stay at [insert where playdate was]. And the horrible thing is, i can't say it obviously, but i agree with her, she is right. Those people live in safe areas, with great backyards full of fun stuff for kids to do, lots of space inside and out, they ARE nice places to be. And they have xmas trees, and more importantly, room to put a xmas tree. She asks for a xmas tree everyday. (the three gum tree branches in a bucket, i have fashioned into our pretend xmas tree, do not cut it, with her). i really tried to make it look as nice as i could. Argh.

DD1 is a classic for never wanting to go home. She has a real grass is greener attitude, even when it is obvious there is no grass. You could live in a mansion and the chances are you DD may still whinge about going home.

Do you think this whinginess is more girls than boys, DD is a classic whinger, DS1 not so much....I just thought it was that she was ready for school, exhausted from all the end of year kinder stuff, etc. Can't believe it still goes on after they start school and then I guess it ramps up into the hormonal puberty whinginess, holy heck, where is there a whinge-free window?

Gigi, I think wanting to stay at the friend's house is pretty normal. It doesn't matter where they live, what toys that have, whatever...it is all new and exciting and different for them. So, by definition, better than what they have iykwim.
Re: the Christmas tree. You can get some small artificial ones for about $15-20 at kmart.

Yep - when my dd was 4 and 5, she always wanted to stay and live with whoever we had been visiting. It was more about going home on her own being an only child and wanting to stay where there was more kid action.
dd was whingy from 4 to 6. 7 and 8 were pretty blissful moodwise but at 9 she has started to get "moody" rather than whingy. But nowhere near as bad as the whingy years.

I was nicknamed moana when growing up... DS does a good job of whinging so I hope he takes after his dad and grows out of it sooner rather than later

DD is 5 and the whinging has just about out me over the edge that and the constant crying, she's so emotional and I'm struggling to deal with her, will this stage end soon...?

must be a 5 yr old thing coz my DS is the same...crys at the drop of a hat and just whinges

I was just thinking that maybe my DS is a bit weird as everyone else on here has posted about their DD. But my DS most certainly whines. About anything. He wants to do his puzzle and I didn't get it fast enough. His baby sister poked him when he was trying to watch TV. Aaaarrrggghhh! Sometimes he seems so grown up I am in awe, and other times I am in awe at how completely whingey and painful he is. I do however think that girl whinging last a lot longer (like forever ).

OH MY GOODNESS. I am so over it. My DS is 3 and a half. he constantly whines "I wanna go outside" over and over again. He would live outside if he could! I hope it dies down. I guess he gets bored, thank god he goes to daycare 3 times a week. Kindy in 2012.
