I scrap book with Creative Memories, there products are very good, that it, their albums and tools etc. When i have been to lessons at your regular scrap booking store, most of the teachers say the CM stuff is the best. They are abit pricey thou. They are not quiet as 'out there' in terms of page designs and layouts etc, but, they have come along way. I use their pages, tools and papers, but, also tend to mix alot of outside stuff into it.
Like the others have said, try any shop you come across - craft shops, $2 shops, reddot, Big W, Kmart, Target abs anywhere sells scrap booking stuff. Even the supermarkets. Make sure thou that, the products you buy are acid and lingin free. If they are not, make sure that those products dont touch your photos. If you use CM pages (not sure about other brands) they are also buffered, meaning that if/when you put something onto the page that isnt acid free, the acid wont travel thru the paper - KWIM?
For ideas, sign up to any online scrap book store - most of them have a gallery of sorts. And also discounts on postage etc.
Also, try your local library for books and mags to get ideas, and the newsagent for scrap booking mags.
I also believe that alot of general advertisment use a similar sort of design theory to scrap booking - or scrap booking uses similar rule to advertising, in that you can get good ideas for page layouts etc from the advertising media.
I can never see the Rove show now with out thinking of scrapbooking, thanks to all those swirly things he has come on when they go to breaks.
Clare076 - are you a CM consultant, or customer?
ETA - i keep thinking of other stuff - if money is an issue, dont forget your pc and printer. I use alot of fonts, and pictures and just print onto paper in colour in stead of using stamps, or stickers etc. Sometimes is just as effective. For making headings, i print the required words on to the required paper, in MIRROR image, and cut it out. Time comsuming, but, cheaper, and you get the words you want, in the colours you want. By printing in MIRROR image, the lines will be on the back when its cut out, so you wont see any of that. Does that make sense?

I just started up on my own.. no lessons.
I buy most of my stuff from either ebay or Lindcraft. Ebay is the cheapest i think.
As ive taken thousands, literally, of photos of Jesse ive just been doing themes atm. Have done the hopsital of course, his first bottle, his first bath, his first week, his first car trip home, his spotty hormone rash, first shower, his laundry, christmas etc etc. What i did was just search online scrapbooking and looked at what others had done. Got an idea that way. Some things i thought were a good idea i used from their ideas. +
Just have fun with it.
