Some background:
I work in a University in Adelaide that is nice and close to home. I got this job after quitting my previous job while I was on maternity leave.
I love my job so much and I love working at the Uni. However, my job is only a temorary job. It was supposed to be only from July until October last year, but then it got extended to March this year, and has now been extended to the end of this year. My boss is really happy with how I work but he cannot guarantee an ongoing position even though he would like to because it all depends on funding.
There is a job that has just opened up at a higher level than mine which I could most certainly do, this one is a continuing position which is great as it means I get to keep working at the Uni. I've decided that I will apply for it and am thankful that I have the full support of my boss.
So, applications close 25th May. My boss has offered to look at my application before I submit it to help me make it the best possible application. I couldn't ask for a better person to have look over my application and to have as a referee...he's the Director of Human Resources!
I'm feeling very confident and the fact that I have already worked at the Uni for almost a year will be a big thing in my favour!
I hope I get it, even though I would really love to keep working in the area I'm in, I need job security though. There would be nothing stopping me applying for a job back in the area or in any area if I saw one that I really wanted.
I just wanted to wish you the best of luck!!!! It does sound like you have done lots of hard work towards this already.... Looking forward to hearing about your future success!
