My dad picked up an old small cupboard from a hard rubbish collection dump on the side of a road near his place.
He brought it home to put in the backyard. When he opened the cupboard doors he found a small box which contained a whole heap of unused Australian postage stamps dating back to the early 1900's as well as some old Aussie coins.
I want to find out how much they are valued but don't know where to begin.
Any avid stamp collectors amongst us here or know of anyone that is who can answer this question for me?
visit a couple of independent valuers specialising in coins and stamps. I suggest visiting a couple so you can get a more accurate idea instead of a "quote so I can buy them cheap" or "quote to make you happy" kind of situation.
Try not to go off ebay - I find they aren't that accurate for pricing.
What a find!! Wonder if the owner of the cupboard realises the extent of their mistake?!!!
What was the outcome, TD? I know it's an old thread but it's still worth asking!
I have been collecting coins since I was a wee-nipper, and the only one I can't place / value / date is one with Arabic writing on ... perhaps I should scan it in and attach a picture.
