Red face I luuuve Shannon Lush....

I have been watching Lush House on Lifestyle, and find it really interesting. But I also try to remember what Shannon says about stain removal. Last night this came in really handy, as my darling little daughter had a balloon that the Man had let her draw allover with permanent marker. This on its own is no such a problem, but she then rubbed (not intentionally) the balloon on to the carpet mat which is (or rather should be when its clean!) a cream colour.

Instead it had these new dark smudges on it. Terrific. Couple that with a windy and spewy baby, who was in pain for something, and a tired girl, and also a Man who had gone out again for work, all made for one very irritated Mum.

Racking my brain, all I could think of from Shannon was bicarb and vinegar, and also to remove the stain sooner rather than later. I found out later I should have tried metho, but as it was, I don't have any in the house. That's definitely on today's shopping list!

Sprinkled bicarb + sprayed vinegar + elbow grease = clean carpet!

All be it I had to reapply a few times, but it worked a treat! I can see that I am now going to have to do the whole of the two mats this way!

Yep a big fan here. And I am about to throw out my enjo mops as I have been using enjo for years thinking it was "cleaner" and "better for the environment" only this morning I decided to mop with a regular sponge mop and vinegar and hot water, and guess what? The brown sludge that came off my floors was DISGUSTING! I seriously nearly puked, knowing that I've been mopping my floor and it hasn't been getting CLEAN! GROSS! And I did a spot test post mop and no dirt came off, yet after I mop with enjo if I clean a spill off the floor it seems like the floor is dirty instantly again. No more gimmicks for me, back to good old fashioned mop, boiling water and vinegar (and a touch of lavender oil )

I have a friend who only uses metho to clean the house and her house is always sparkling!

Just a question, I missed last weeks with the housemates, how did they get their couch clean?

Eucalyptus oil here, put a nice fresh smell through the kitchen.

I have 2 episodes to still watch, will get to them and tell you about the couch, think I need the advice myself.

Yep, the couch is clean as new. You can look up all the info from the shows on the web. Go to the lifestyle channel website and then lush house. It has everything from the shows. I'm looking them up constantly instead of taking up room on the IQ!

I'm not looking forward to mopping my floors! I can't tell you the last time they were done!

My DH and DS bought me Speed Cleaning for Mother's Day, and no, I wasn't angry! I think she is great. I'm currently cleaning our new house before we move in and I'm using a lot of her techniques which don't include usual household cleaners, only vinegar and metho.

She is so awesome! It takes me AGES to watch the show because I am constantly pausing so I can write down her tips!

Does anyone know where to get oil of cloves?

Chemists I think, if not then somewhere online should sell it.

Having trouble getting glycerine, sold out down here.
