Okay a bit of background, during pregnancy i was hot all the time which weird for me esepcially at night cos im usually cold. in the hospital i was sleeping in a singlet and my boxers as i was sooooo hot, this continued when i got hom, but i began having sweats, like waking up so sweaty i would have to change my pjs but i felt cold. this has been happening at least three nights a week since coming home fro having DS in april last year. In summer i just assumed it was due the heat wave, but last week after a particularly bad week of it i made a comment to my mum who said go the dr. i am still BF and have not had AF siince having DS
So i've just come from there and they did a blood test, she thinks i might have low estrogen levels, and said i should have resumed AF by now and then she mentioned menopause.... WTF.... I am 26 there is no history of early menopause in my family.
So my question is has anyone else experienced this and what did it end up being?
Thanks Kim
I'm actually cold all the time, so can't help with that (I blame it on lower than average blood pressure), but I wanted to say I didn't get AF till DS was 19 months so don't worry too much about that.
I can't help with your hot symptoms but I also didn't get AF back until just after DS turned 1!
Hope the test results come back with some good news for you!
I didn't get AF back until a month after stopping BF even when DS was 14 months old.
DH got really bad night sweats when he had a broken leg, something baout calcium leeching into his system?
I had lots of night-sweats after having DS, very much like you describe. Mine did resolve themselves much quicker than yours, but then I only BF for 6 weeks so my hormones might have gone back to "normal" before yours. It sounds hormonal, but menopause sounds a bit drastic! I sure hope its just hormones being out of whack after pregnancy- good luck on the tests!
Thanks amberj yeah i agree when the dr said it i almost fell off my chair, i'm sure it was just a passing comment, but it did freak me out a little
Thanks for your reply
Yep - I had the night sweats with both girls and was told that it was hormonal. It did stop sooner than yours. Maye your hormones are still a bit out of wack. Perhaps go to a naturopath and they might be able to help get them back in balance.
