DD has been complaining on and off for a few weeks about her sore foot. I looked at it back then and thought it was a blister, put a bandaid on it and didn't think about it again. She started complaining more about it this week so we finally trooped off to the Dr's - more to stop her complaining about it than I though anything was wrong.
Big oops there. Dr looked at both feet (I had only looked at one) and found not only a corn on one foot but three on the other! He started telling me this is unusual in a 5yo and he is going to refer me to a podiatrist but will most likely need to have DD in hosp for the treatment as it is very painful. Since DD has very keen hearing she heard this and lost the plot. The Dr went and got the senior Dr at the surgery and he confirmed the diagnosis. Poor DD was distraught but the Dr's were really good at calming her down. We took her out to dinner and it cheered her up but just remembering the look on her face when she worked it out was hearbreaking.
I feel terrible that I hadn't noticed that there were strange things on her feet. She is at school so I see little scrapes and bruises all the time and think nothing of it.
Has anyone else heard of a young child getting corns on their feet? DD has been properly fitted for all her shoes and I didn't scrimp and get her the cheepies either as I get blisters very easily and I don't want her suffering the pain that I had as a child. Any help would be great.
