Worried something is wrong? am i just paranoid?

Okay, so it may just be paranoya here, however.

Im at that lengthy wait between 12 week scan and 18 weeks scan.
I just dont feel like much is happening. I dont feel much cramps or any kicks as of yet, I dont seem to be putting on much more weight, im not that hungry or urinating as much. And im just getting over a severe case of the flu.

Is something wrong? is it normal for bub to be so quiet between 12 and 18 weeks.
Also, if anything (did) go wrong, would there be noticable signs by now?

I'm sure your bub is just fine. Everything you have described sounds so normal and it is SO normal to worry about your bub! I have my moments all the time.

With my first pregnancy, I didn't feel my bub move until just after 20 weeks, so don't stress that you aren't feeling movement yet. Your cramps, nausea, hunger and need for frequent toilet trips will have settled down after the first tri, it is very normal to feel next to nothing at your stage . The weight gain usually kicks in later in your second tri, but will REALLY kick in during your third tri (not fair!).

After I got through the first trimester in this pregnancy, I honestly would forget I was pregnant because I felt so normal LOL. It was at around 22 weeks that I really started feeling it again (tummy really popped out, waddling, etc )

Try and relax, your bub will let you know of his/her presence non-stop very soon

Sounds pretty normal to me. You generally don't feel bub moving until you get to 18+ weeks even then sometimes its not until you reach 20+ weeks.

If you are worried then see your GP or Ob and ask for another appointment to ease your mind.

Some people also buy their own doppler you can get them on ebay but the downside to that is it can be difficult, particularly when you are not sure what you are listening for, to locate bubs HB which may cause you more stress.

I am sure things are ok,

every body and every pregnancy is different so don't think something is wrong with you just because others in your Due date group or other people that you talk too are experiencing things that you are not at the moment.

Sounds pretty normal -- especially the stressing about everything part

The 2nd Trimester is a bit uneventful. Enjoy it while it lasts because the 3rd can be a bit of a killer!!

I think its very normal to worry simply because we know the odds of having something happen!! We can't avoid it, and its always in the back of our minds if we seem too "normal".

FWIW - I felt DS kicking at around 16 weeks. I didn't feel DD until around 22 weeks because my placenta was at the front.

This time around - I feel so obscenely normal that DH has to remind me that I can't do this, can't do that, can't eat such and such - because I am pregnant - cos I keep forgetting!!! I'm not showing (got too much fat on my belly hehe) and don't get morning sickness, and its too early for kicks and stuff - so yeah - I'm just cruising hoping everything is going along ok in there!!!!

    I'm sure everything is fine

i know exactly what your going through
i thought i was feeling movements about almost 2 weeks ago, and have since "thought" i have felt something. when i went to the doctors yesterday he told me that i should be feeling movement already.. like i said im pretty sure i have but i dont know what im feeling for.. soemtimes its like "was that it..." LOL im showing fairly well as im quite short and quite slendor, everyone has comented how ive "popped out" in the last week or so. So now im stressig coz, the doc told me i should be feeling it and i look big enough to be feeling it.. i just dont know!!

I wouldnt worry too much tho, its so hard in this in between stage, i have 2 weeks til my 19 week scan >.< ARGH its taking so long LOL!!!

    I remember this feeling

I didn't feel any movements really until I was about 20w and didn't really pop out until then either. I was still urinating all the time, but that's been my one consistent symptom of pregnancy. I worried cause my boobs weren't hurting and I had some random bleeding, but everything is fine.

Are you seeing an Ob? If you are I found mine would check Peanut's heartbeat every time I went and this would reassure me. The Ob didn't use his dopler until I was past 20w cause he couldn't find the heartbeat. He used his ultrasound machine. So you might find at your next Ob or midwife appointment they will check the heartbeat and this will reassure you

Also, I'm pretty sure that if anything was wrong you would know about it.

Try and relax and as the others said, enjoy this uneventful time cause once you reach the third trimester you'll be longing for the relatively pain free second trimester!

    Sounds very normal...

I remember this stage too & thinking that I couldn't wait until I started feeling bub move, cause then I would know she was there...and even now when I wake up in the morning I never really feel right until I feel her moving, like she is saying good morning
And even though this is no.4 & all the books etc say you might feel it earlier, I didn't feel it for absolutely certain until about 20 weeks.

Im sorta stuck between seeing my doc at the 12 weeks, and now waiting for my first interview/appointmnet with the midwife at the hospital.
My first appointment with the midwife isnt til 2nd june, so i got a bit of waiting still

I havent yet felt any movements either, the flutters or anything. mind you it might be later on that i feel it for the first time, and this is my first time pregnant, and they say its a little later on in your pregnancy that you feel bubs first movements

heres to hoping all is well, ive been very tired the last few days too.

You can wait with me - my first Ob appointment is also 2 June and I'm desperate to hear the heartbeat again, 'cause I want something definite. Only 8 and a bit days to wait. Hurry up time...

Glad to hear the worry is a common thing! I am pregnant with my second child and also in that period of not feeling pregnant (I am just over 17 weeks!). Some days I can even forget that I am! Other days I worry like hell! My soon to be hubby (30 May!) thinks I am crazy with all the unnecessary worry, and I definitely don't remember being like this in my first pregnancy (maybe because I didn't know any different?). Oh well I have an appointment with the hospital this week and a scan organised for next week, so I'm sure that will put my mind at ease soon enough!

FTM - I just saw your due date. If you want come and join us in the Nov 1st-15th due date group. One of the girls in there hasn't had any scans yet none and is not until she reaches 20 weeks. Having some great women to chat too regularly may help aleviate some of your anxiety as we all talk about the little niggles we experience and it can be very reassuring to know that others are going through the same thing.

Just a thought would love to see you there
