Just wondering if anyone can help me? Since we moved in here a year and a half ago we have had a problem with ants. The normally move into our electical appliances - vaccuums, breadmakers, laptops, tv's etc and are a huge pain.
Today I have found them under the carpet in my bedroom. I am too afraid to pull back the corner and see what it is like and how many are there. That can wait for DH tonight. I have sprayed it all with surface spray to kill the live ones to hold them off for today.
What can I do to keep them away? Please help - I have already tried surface sprays, baits, poweder etc and the pest control guy was here just a month - 6 weeks ago!
Please does anyone have any ideas?!!
My mum has the same problem. She said she used baby powder over all the gaps in the walls and all the drains that dont get used regulary. I think it confuses the ants or something.
I just had another silly brain wave. Get some of that outdoor spray and spray all around the house. Then (here's the silly part) get a jar of honey and stick it on the floor in your room. Spray some surface spray around it and viola! The inside ants will trek over to it and will die or drown. And the outside ants will not be able to get there.
That wasnt a real suggestion. Just wanted to cheer you up about the invasion.
By this time you should be finding dead ants instead of live ones.
My Mum has her house sprayed yearly for ants and by this time she has dead ants everywhere. It sounds like the guy who sprayed the house didn't do it properley.
My Mum cuts down lids and puts antrid in them and them just leaves them. You have to not touch the lids except to add a bit of the liquid as if you move them they move. It takes about a week but it really works for her. Inside she will often have 3 bait sites on the go.
If you know where they are coming in, blutack works to plug the hole.
Thanks! They seem to have eaten out under the carpet! I sprayed them and vaccuumed as much crap as I could. I called the real estate so I guess I just wait to see what they say.
I wish I could spray all around the outside of the house but with all the rain we are having it will do no good!
