    HCG levels

    Quick question!

I got my HCG levels back today which were lower than the doctor expected.... she said for 6 weeks they should be mid 1000... but because I charted I know when I ovulated, which makes my HCG levels right if you base how far along I am on that!

So which do I take as where I am at in my pregnancy... from the first day of my last cycle or from when I ovulated!

As far as I know you take the pregnancy from the first day of your last cycle

I had my levels done at 4 weeks 6 days and they were 1550 or similar.... But the range is huge! That was 4 weeks 6 days approx. from the first day of my last cycle.. I am not sure if that even makes any sense..

Hopefully someone else will know a little more.

HCG Levels can vary greatly and are more about them increasing than the actual number IYKWIM. Mine were always low at the start but increased at a good rate. Did your doc say anything about another test?

No, just to go back at 9 weeks, but nothing about having more tests done.... which is why I'm wondering whether I should go and get a second opinion!!

I am with ControlFreak its more important the rising then the actual number and you can't compared yourself to others at the same gestation as there is such a variation. When did you have the blood test? Was it a week or so ago and you have only just got your results? Also do you have another HCG level to compare it to for this pregnancy or was it your first BT you have had this time? I would try have another BT just for peace of mind. When do you think you O? Even if you know your exact DPO you dont know how long it too for the bubba to imbed in the uterus lining which is when they start producing the masses of HCG. Women can range from 3-4days till 12 to get down the tubes.

I had the same HCG levels and I am 32 weeks pregnant! Don't worry as long as they are doubling every 48-72 hours you are ok. There is no specific number. Hope this helped.

Thanks guys.... I have had another blood test and get the results back tomorrow! The doctor, which was a different doctor cause I didn't like the first one, told me that he doesn't like doing the test for HCG because it can cause unnecessary stress in the mother.... hmmmm yeah tell me about it!!

Sounds like you just need to move on Leeloo.

What the heck are they on about, is my first question. If they're not sure, why would they even worry you with it? The first trimester is frought with enough peril without their doubts and medical opinions thrown in too.
