having a wee in the grass - is it such a bad habit to teach ??

ok so i let DS wee in the garden/grass. DH thinks its not right ( BUT its ok for him to do it when hes drunk and needs to pee ) often im haning out the washing or he is playing out side and he will take his pants off and wee , i think its better than him doing it in his pants or having to run for ages to get to the toilet ...

i havent done it in public yet , ( well ok he has fear of other ppls toilets , one day we were at a servo and needed a wee , and when we got into the toilet it was rotten , and dirty and dark and stinky .. foul really ) so i took him rounf the back and he weed in the bush .. but should i really encouage him to do this ???

will i be forever baleing him out of jail for weeing out the front of pizza hut on a night out ???

I used to tell DS wee on a tree when I was teaching him to stand up and wee. He's 11 now and goes to the toilet just fine He will wee outside if he doesn't want to come inside to the toilet though. I don't have a problem with it.

My 5 yo nephew on the ohter hand has an obsession with weeing outside. He will literally race outside to wee on the car tyre or even stand on the edge of the verandah to do it. It grosses me out but I dare say it's a phase he will grow out of.

I know LOTS of men who will just urinate anywhere - one on my FB has a photo of his name on a footpath which he drew with his wee.........

I'm pretty sure it's just a 'boy thing' but I don't see a problem with it unless he's refusing to use the toilet and runs outside to wee.

I think that's perfectly fine. When he's older, you can teach him not to do it in public places, but in your own backyard, who's to know? Like you say, better than doing it in his pants!!!

Well i have been known to still do it on the odd occasion, so i certianly won't mind if my girls do.

Seriously though, I don't see a problem. It is how my nephew learnt and I would teach DS the same way except for winter coming up. No idea about that one now It is only through the TT stage and I am sure as he gets older he will learn the benefits of indoor plumbing.

I often thought about this & thought if you let them do it often then you would have trouble getting them to use the toilet....but tbh who cares. If you have a toilet available then use it....if not find the best alternative. At least it's easier with boys.
I'm finding letting DS do his on the lawn etc making it easier to TT him as when outside I can say to him every 15mins "do you need to do a wee, give it a shot" etc without running to the toilet & often he will do one & stay dry.

My DH always wee's outside, if he's doing something or out there & feels the need LOL he never thinks to come inside. Often DS will stand beside him & have a wee too! men hey!

Here's a question....what about DD??? we have a little girl at playgroup that each time she needs to do a wee her Mum pulls her pants off for her & says quick behind that tree. The toilets are not gross & not that far away but its easier for her & she doesn't fuss. Hmmmm doesn't worry me but often wonder if others think its ok for boys but not girls.

I wish my DS would wee outside! Mitchell is almost 9 and if he needs to go to the loo and someone else is in there I'll tell him to go out the backyard but he hates it! He will hold on and hold on till he almost wets his pants, then make a sprint for the backyard, LOL. And if we are out and there is no loo around he will only go behind a tree if his bladder is about to burst!!
I don't know why he's like this...just shy I suppose.
