According to LoriRae in another thread (not sure how to quote from another thread so sorry about the cut & paste) "just fill it up like normal, bicarb instead of powder and vinegar instead of rinse aid. Definately white (or distilled) vinegar, no other kind or it will smell funny... the bicarb works great for plates, cutlery, glassware etc, but not so good for baked on pots and pans stuff. I hand wash them".
The silly thing is they come with sample tablets. I asked our local service guy about it after they advised me not to use tablets and even he did not understand why they are supplied when they are not recommended.
Something about the rinse aid in the tablet causing over foaming issues. Some dishwashers don't cope with it especially in soft water areas. I personally have never had an issue with them.
I have been told that you shouldn't use the tablets if you are doing anything other than a normal wash. If you use them on a short or eco wash, the DW really struggles to get rid of all the foam. Apparently this can lead to the DW not performing as well and having a shorter lifespan...
We use eco store ones or bi carb and vinegar and yep, I fill up the bi carb bit and put around 1 tbsp of vinegar in the rinse cycle, sometimes I add a tsp of lemon juice too!
