I was just wondering if anyone else was feeling as paranoid as I am about my baby catching colds/flus at the moment?
I feel like I'm borderline manic about it. I don't want to leave the house with her or have people come to the house to see her. I'm so worried about her falling ill. She's so tiny and new - I couldn't bare it if something happened to her.
I know that breast feeding helps support her immune system, but I still can't help but feel slightly on the verge on panic when I think about my mother-in-law travelling from the UK in a plane full of people in 2 weeks time to come and visit. I know that she would never do anything to put Asher at risk, but how can you avoid it on an international flight if there are a few people ill?
Even going to the shops I cover her completely in the baby bjorn or the pram in the hopes that no cold and flu germs can get to her.
I think I just need to know I'm not alone here.....
Personally i wouldnt be letting Oversea's visitors visit because of the swine flu thats going around. But thats me.
It is actully good once and a while for bub to catch the common cold as it will boost her immune system. DD got her first cold at 5 weeks old and it lasted for 2 weeks.
I was panicking about the swine flu when my DS was about 4 weeks old, to the point where I couldn't eat and was on the loo!
He's now 3 months old. I'm a lot better now and convinced that the post-natal hormones had a lot to do with it, that and just being a normal worrying Mum of a vulnerable little newborn.
I still worry, but have improved heaps! Hope you feel better soon too
