My DD was born by elective CS as she was breech. Initial tests did not pick up hip dysplasia although there was a slight click in left hip early on which subsided by the time she was re-tested (she has had 2 ultrasounds). Now I have taken her to a paediatic ortho surgeon (at my GPs suggestion) because she has a crease in her left thigh (which I always assumed was a cute roll of baby fat!). He saw that her left leg is slightly shorter and slightly thinner than the right thigh ( we never noticed this!). She walks and runs fine and she moves around with ease.
We are going for xrays tomorrow but Dr said not to rush (?). I am in a state of panic now!!! Does a dislocated hip automatically mean surgery and one of those body casts? Does it depend on how severe the dislocation is? Dr did not want to explain what would happen if she needs an operation until he saw the x-rays and deemed it necessary!
